{"id":165240,"date":"2023-11-09T11:40:37","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T03:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/?post_type=pd&#038;p=165240"},"modified":"2024-03-19T13:10:57","modified_gmt":"2024-03-19T05:10:57","slug":"ethics-in-the-workplace","status":"publish","type":"pd","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/prof-development\/ethics-in-the-workplace\/","title":{"rendered":"Ethics in the workplace"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Ethics matters to all of us, but ethical conversations can be difficult and failing to predict ethically bad outcomes can be devastating to individuals and organisations.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How can we overcome the fact that we all want to feel good about our ethical choices, but we often find ethical issues hard to think through and even harder to raise?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a skill to recognising ethical issues and it is one we can all learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover, it&#8217;s a useful skill in creating the kinds of organisations, teams, and communities we all want to take part in. When we fail to recognise, predict, and think through ethical issues individuals, organisations, and all stakeholders can suffer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There some clear and well-established tools for thinking about ethical issues and navigating these. Preventing these issues starts with understanding ethical views of ourselves and others, as well as using these to predict, address, and avoid ethical concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program will introduce participants to ways of thinking about their own ethical views more deeply, understand the ethical worldviews of others, and develop skills in navigating conversations about ethics with to reflect on their own ethical views and improve their understanding of the ethical views of others and how to navigate ethical issues in the workplace.<\/p>\n<p>It will be particularly useful to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>those who are keen to improve their own ethical thinking<\/li>\n<li>those in organisations who are keen to lift and demonstrate their commitment to ethical performance in areas such as the Sustainable Development Goals and Principles of Responsible Management,<\/li>\n<li>those who wish to foster workplace cultures that appeal to the increasing ethical focus of younger generations of employees<\/li>\n<li>as well as those who wish to avoid the recent ethical scandals that have dominated headlines in Australia and around the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program will
