Psychologists must adhere to these codes and should demonstrate knowledge of and engage in ethical behaviour in practice. Students and graduates of Curtin undergraduate psychology programs, including undergraduate certificates, are expected to adhere to these same codes and policies. Students and graduates demonstrate knowledge of and engage in ethical behaviour in practice.<\/li>\n<li>Compliance with the codes, guidelines, and policies facilitates safe, competent interactions and relationships for students and\/or the people they engage with. This supports the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing of all.<\/li>\n<li>Examples:\n<ul>\n<li>Understanding and practising appropriate professional boundaries with staff members and other students.<\/li>\n<li>Behaving ethically and with integrity when completing work as part of University study and assessments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Behavioural-stability\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Behavioural-stability\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Behavioural-stability\">Behavioural stability<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Behavioural-stability\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <ol>\n<li>Behavioural stability is the maintenance of conduct that is acceptable and appropriate, according to the recognised norms of society over a given period. Behavioural stability is required to function and adapt effectively and sensitively in roles relating to the practise of psychology, whether as a psychologist or in a related role during or following university studies. Students and graduates are expected to develop behavioural stability to work constructively in diverse and changing academic and work environments, which may at times be challenging and unpredictable.<\/li>\n<li>Behavioural stability is required to work individually and in teams in changing and unpredictable environments. Students may be exposed to situations which are challenging and unpredictable and will be required to demonstrate behaviour and strategies that support professional interactions.<\/li>\n<li>Examples:\n<ul>\n<li>Being receptive and responding appropriately to constructive feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Working and interacting respectfully with groups and across a diverse range of people.<\/li>\n<li>Being aware of one\u2019s own emotional state and knowing where and how to seek support to develop and maintain appropriate relationships with a diverse range of academic staff, peers, and colleagues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Communication\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Communication\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Communication\">Communication<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Communication\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <ol>\n<li>Effective verbal and written communication in English is an essential requirement for study and practice in psychological support. Students need to demonstrate sensitivity to individual and\/or cultural differences and the ability to understand and respond to verbal and written communication accurately, appropriately, and in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<li>Study and practice within psychology require a wide range of communication skills, including effective verbal communication with colleagues, peers, and clients in a respectful manner.<\/li>\n<li>Examples:\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to communicate verbally in person and online in small and larger groups.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to undertake tasks involving written communication, such as comprehension of written materials and assignment and report writing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Relational-skills\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Relational-skills\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Relational-skills\">Relational skills<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Relational-skills\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <ol>\n<li>Study and professional psychology practice requires the ability to interact appropriately with others with the aim of building and maintaining healthy, productive relationships. Skills include empathy, trustworthiness, patience, active listening, approachability and reliability.<\/li>\n<li>Highly developed relational skills are a cornerstone of effective workplaces in relation to psychology and relations to individuals and groups.
