STAT is recognised in all Australian states and can be a good pathway for entry to a range of Curtin courses if you don\u2019t hold other qualifications, such as an ATAR.<br><br>You\u2019re eligible for the STAT pathway if you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>are applying to Curtin as a mature-age student (you will be at least 20 years of age before you start university*)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>have never studied at TAFE or university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>are an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent Australian resident.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>*To use STAT for entry to university in semester 1, you must be at least 20 years of age before 1 March the year you start university. If you\u2019re applying for semester 2, you must be at least 20 years of age before 1 August the year you start university.<br><br>Don\u2019t meet the criteria for STAT? You need a minimum score 135 MC and 140 WE to be eligible for entry to Curtin courses that offer STAT as an entry pathway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some Curtin courses require specific components of STAT MC (i.e. Verbal or Quantitative or both) and you may also need to complete enabling units to meet prerequisites. Check the admission criteria<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"1.-Check-the-admission-criteria\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Check the Curtin course your want to apply for accepts STAT as an entry pathway, and which sections you need i.e. Written English (WE) and Multiple Choice \u2013 either Verbal or Quantitative or both.<\/p>\n<p>To use STAT to gain entry to university, you must also be at least 20 years of age before 1 March in the year of entry to university, if applying for first semester. If applying for second semester, you must be at least 20 years of age before 1 August in the year of entry. Alternatively, you can request a form to be posted to you by phoning TISC, which administers STAT.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve completed the form and paid to sit STAT, you will receive a candidate information booklet containing examples of the types of questions used in the test. Reading the booklet will help you to familiarise yourself with the STAT. You may also like to receive additional STAT tuition so you can practise for the test, especially if you\u2019ve been out of the education system for a while.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-3.-Sit-the-test-and-get-your-results-\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"3.-Sit-the-test-and-get-your-results-\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-3.-Sit-the-test-and-get-your-results-\">3. Sit the test and get your results <\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"3.-Sit-the-test-and-get-your-results-\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>There are two sections to the STAT:<\/p>\n<p><strong>STAT Multiple Choice<\/strong><br \/>\nThis section of the test is two hours long with ten minutes reading time. There are 70 multiple choice questions, half are Verbal Reasoning (humanities and social sciences based) and half are Quantitative Reasoning (mathematics and science based).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Written English<\/strong><br \/>\nThis section of the test is one hour long with five minutes reading time. You will be asked to write two short essays on two different topics.<\/p>\n<p>TISC will post you a hard copy of your STAT results within three weeks of your test sitting.
