This means you may not need to repeat similar content in your Curtin course and you could finish your degree in a shorter amount of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you can apply for CRL, you must first&nbsp;submit&nbsp;your application for your chosen Curtin course. You will be assessed for CRL in relation to the course you\u2019re applying for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who can apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Credit for recognised learning is available to a wide range of students who have previous study, work experience or other learning that relates to their chosen course at Curtin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You may be eligible for credit for recognised learning if you have:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Completed formal study, such as units at Curtin or another recognised university<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completed TAFE or VET qualifications, such as Diplomas or Advanced Diplomas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Completed professional certifications or training, including industry-based or community education<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relevant work or life experience, with skills or knowledge that apply to your new course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You may also be eligible if you\u2019re:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A current Curtin student switching courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A TAFE pathway student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A mature age applicant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A postgraduate applicant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Studying through Open Universities Australia (OUA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether&nbsp;you&#8217;re&nbsp;returning to study, changing careers or continuing your education after gaining experience elsewhere, CRL may help you reduce the time and cost of your Curtin degree.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When to apply for CRL<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>CRL is assessed at different points depending on your background and what you\u2019re applying with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll initially be assessed for CRL by Curtin\u2019s Admissions team when you apply for a course. This includes students applying with prior formal study. If you\u2019re applying with work or life experience, you\u2019ll need to submit a CRL application after receiving your offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After you receive your offer, you can submit a separate CRL application if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You believe you\u2019re eligible for more credit than what\u2019s shown in your Letter of Offer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019re applying with work or life experience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You were not initially assessed for CRL during your course application<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>For international students<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>During your course application, you have the option to opt out of CRL. If you choose this, CRL will not be assessed or included in your Letter of Offer. Prepare your documents<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"2.-Prepare-your-documents\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>The documents you\u2019ll need depend on the type of CRL you\u2019re applying for:<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you\u2019re applying based on prior study:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unit outlines or course descriptions<\/li>\n<li>Academic transcripts<\/li>\n<li>Certificates of completion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>If you\u2019re applying based on work\/life experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Curriculum Vitae (CV)<\/li>\n<li>Employment confirmation letter<\/li>\n<li>Position description<\/li>\n<li>Complete the form <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/SuppWorkExpAppforCRL1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supplement for Credit Transfer based on relevant Prior Professional (work) or Life Experience\u00a0[.pdf]<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>If you\u2019re an International applicant<br \/>\n<\/strong>Unit outlines must be issued by the institution and include key details (unit code, title, year, learning outcomes, topics, assessments and credit\/contact hours). Check your outcome<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"4.-Check-your-outcome\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>You\u2019ll receive confirmation through Curtin\u2019s official communications or email once your CRL has been assessed, this includes OUA students.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If approved, CRL will be listed on your study plan as well as your academic transcript.<\/li>\n<li>You can also check your outcome in OASIS.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow the steps below to view your CRL in OASIS:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Login to <a href=\"https:\/\/oasis.curtin.edu.au\/\">OASIS<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the\u00a0<strong>eStudent\u00a0<\/strong>tile.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Enrol in Units<\/strong>. Select the course you are currently admitted into if necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Units you have been granted CRL for will have\u00a0<strong>Exempted\u00a0<\/strong>or <strong>Credited\u00a0<\/strong>noted next to the unit name.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n    <\/div>\n                                                                    <a\n    href=\"https:\/\/crl.curtin.edu.au\/crl\/step1 \"\n    class=\"button button--deep-blue filled\"\n    target=\"_top\" aria-label=\"Apply for CRL\">Apply for CRL<\/a>\n                        <\/section>\n<\/mimas-block>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things to consider<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before&nbsp;submitting&nbsp;your CRL application, please keep the following in mind:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Timeframe for recognition<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Credit is&nbsp;generally considered&nbsp;for study or experience completed within the past 10 years. In some cases,&nbsp;such as&nbsp;when professional accreditation standards apply or your field has undergone significant changes,&nbsp;this&nbsp;timeframe&nbsp;may be shorter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Level for study<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Units completed at undergraduate level are not typically eligible for credit toward postgraduate courses.&nbsp;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CRL is usually considered for Australian and overseas qualifications above&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aqf.edu.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Australian Qualification Framework<\/a> Diploma level or equivalent.&nbsp;<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Certificate IV qualifications are only considered for enabling or bridging courses.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Minimum Curtin study requirement<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>To graduate from Curtin, you must complete at least one third of your course or 200 credits at Curtin.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Policy and appeals<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For full details&nbsp;about the policies and procedures related to CRL assessment and appealing against a credit decision, refer to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/about\/governance\/compliance-legal\/find-a-policy\/#C\">Credit for Recognised Learning Procedure<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">International applicants<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In some courses, you may be asked to provide extra information, such as unit outlines, to help assess your eligibility for CRL. If this applies to you, you\u2019ll receive guidance during the application process.<br><br><strong>Note<\/strong>: Any additional study undertaken outside Curtin after commencing a Curtin course may not be eligible for credit unless it has been pre-approved and completed through Curtin-approved programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transfer units between Curtin courses\u2028<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you switch from one Curtin course to another, units you\u2019ve already completed may be automatically credited to your new course if they are the same level and part of your new study plan.<br><br>This is known as auto-credit and no application is needed for these core units. Your grade and mark will transfer with the unit and count towards your course weighted average.<br><br>You do not need to include auto-credited units in your credit for recognised learning application.
