You can tailor your Service Abroad experience with your future career prospects in mind, and gain an invaluable advantage in a competitive employment market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You devise your own personalised program in collaboration with your home institution and Curtin. Our Student and Community Development Officer will liaise with you to match your internship experience to your personal interests and career ambitions.<\/p>\n<p>You also have the opportunity to enrol in a community service unit which involves a series of open discussions and presentations designed to broaden your knowledge of Australian culture, while allowing you to share your own unique views and experiences with other Study Abroad students.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Service-learning\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Service-learning\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Service-learning\">Service learning<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Service-learning\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Service learning is an opportunity to become more perceptive, culturally sensitive and well-rounded, and is available to all Service Abroad students. Service learning can take the form of ongoing volunteer placements, one-off projects, or community-based internships with local not-for-profit organisations. You\u2019ll get the most out of your service learning through our complementary structured classroom program, which involves facilitated open discussions and presentations that explore service learning and its relationship with Australian culture.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Tailored-orientation\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Tailored-orientation\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Tailored-orientation\">Tailored orientation<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Tailored-orientation\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>You will have a tailored one-week orientation program that includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a tour of Perth and Fremantle<\/li>\n<li>an introduction to Aboriginal culture<\/li>\n<li>exploring and learning about Australian native wildlife<\/li>\n<li>a surfing lesson<\/li>\n<li>general information sessions about Curtin\u2019s culture, academic standards, support services and everything you need to know about life at Curtin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Field-trips\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Field-trips\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Field-trips\">Field trips<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Field-trips\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>As part of the Service Abroad program, you will get the opportunity to attend a range of organised field trips to local sites in Western Australia. Students often go surfing in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.westernaustralia.com\/au\/Destination\/Margaret_River\/9009633\">Margaret River,<\/a>\u00a0whale watching in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.westernaustralia.com\/au\/Destination\/Albany\/9009568\">Albany<\/a>, visiting\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.westernaustralia.com\/au\/Destination\/Rottnest_Island\/9009604\">Rottnest Island<\/a>\u00a0and wine tasting in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.westernaustralia.com\/au\/Destination\/Swan_Valley\/9035461\">Swan Valley.<\/a><\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Student-advisor\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Student-advisor\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Student-advisor\">Student advisor<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Student-advisor\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>You will meet your student advisor when you arrive at Curtin campus. Your student advisor is a senior student or graduate and is there to help you settle into life at Curtin. They will schedule weekly catch up\u2019s with you to discuss both academic and non-academic issues.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Intercultural-classes\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Intercultural-classes\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Intercultural-classes\">Intercultural classes<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Intercultural-classes\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>This experience is designed to give you a holistic understanding of Australian and Asian culture and lifestyle. (CV!) is a student-driven volunteering hub, offering a wide range of volunteering and leadership opportunities across Western Australia. These opportunities include on-going and one-off activities and span a broad range of interests like: culture and communication, remote and Indigenous, health, youth and environment.
