This framework&nbsp;is designed to help&nbsp;you&nbsp;engage students, and provides official recognition of their participation in&nbsp;your programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curtin Extra will support your program&#8217;s continued development, while maximising the opportunities for students to become involved.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Program-eligibility-requirements\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Program-eligibility-requirements\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Program-eligibility-requirements\">Program eligibility requirements<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Program-eligibility-requirements\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <div class=\"accordion__item__content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Curtin Extra program eligibility criteria includes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Program must be co-curricular in nature<\/li>\n<li>Program must be coordinated, monitored and supervised by a Curtin staff member who can verify the hours and activities undertaken<\/li>\n<li>Have a minimum of 20 hours of active participation over 12 months<\/li>\n<li>Involve training to sufficiently prepare participants to undertake tasks (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Activities must not be linked to academic credit.<\/li>\n<li>No double dipping of hours between programs<\/li>\n<li>Recognition provided to Curtin students only<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Student-outcomes\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Student-outcomes\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Student-outcomes\">Student outcomes<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Student-outcomes\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Participation in Curtin Extra programs and activities must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contribute to the University student experience<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to the personal and professional development of students<\/li>\n<li>Assist to develop skills associated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/staffportal.curtin.edu.au\/learning-and-teaching\/coordination\/graduate-capabilities\/\">Curtin Graduate Capabilities <\/a><\/li>\n<li>Support students\u2019 sense of belonging to the Curtin community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Staff-responsibilities\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Staff-responsibilities\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Staff-responsibilities\">Staff responsibilities<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Staff-responsibilities\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <div class=\"accordion__item__content\">\n<p>Programs must have a Curtin staff member as the program coordinator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Program coordinators are responsible for maintaining accurate, complete and up-to-date data on each student&#8217;s\u00a0participation in their programs. Program coordinators are able to maintain these records through a secured database platform <a href=\"https:\/\/unihub.curtin.edu.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UniHub<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Through UniHub you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monitor\u00a0the progression of students\u00a0participating in\u00a0your programs<\/li>\n<li>Access students&#8217; Log Hours to approve\/reject their participation hours<\/li>\n<li>Access students&#8217; Reflection activity to review their experiences and program feedback.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Full instructions on how to approve hours and review reflections can be found in the <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.curtin.edu.au\/display\/SE\/Curtin+Extra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Curtin Extra wiki<\/a>. If you have any questions, contact <a href=\"mailto:curtinextra@curtin.edu.au\">curtinextra@curtin.edu.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Approved programs must also have a current Risk Plan in place, signed by the Head of Area and agree to the Curtin Extra program Terms and Conditions which is provided upon program approval.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Student-participation\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Student-participation\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Student-participation\">Student participation<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Student-participation\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <div class=\"accordion__item__content\">\n<p>At the beginning of each semester, you must submit a list of students who will be participating in your program. The Curtin Extra team will assist in providing these students access to UniHub that will allow them to Log Hours for your program.<\/p>\n<p>Towards the end of each semester,\u00a0you must approve your students&#8217; Log Hours and confirm that your students have successfully completed\u00a0your program in UniHub before the deadline. A student&#8217;s eligibility to receive the Curtin Extra Certificate will then be verified and submitted to Graduations Office for issuance.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin Extra records are updated once a year at the end of each participation period, shortly after\u00a0the examination period (approximately end of August or end of January).<\/p>\n<p>A student&#8217;s successful completion of Curtin Extra approved programs will appear on their Curtin Extra eRecord which can be view in <a href=\"https:\/\/oasis.curtin.edu.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OASIS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Curtin-Extra-framework\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Curtin-Extra-framework\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Curtin-Extra-framework\">Curtin Extra framework<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Curtin-Extra-framework\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Curtin Extra reflects the diversity of co-curricular\u00a0activities and development opportunities available to students, while ensuring the quality of their unique experience.<\/p>\n<p>Approved programs are grouped into one of five development streams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Global Citizenship:<\/strong>\u00a0regional and international experiences that assist\u00a0students to develop\u00a0their intercultural competencies, creativity and global perspectives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Innovation and Enterprise:<\/strong>\u00a0students can engage with Curtin&#8217;s long history of innovation to co-create and experiment in new projects and initiatives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership:<\/strong>\u00a0through the social change model of leadership development,\u00a0students will develop\u00a0their leadership skills and capabilities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Professional Development<\/strong>: opportunities that allow\u00a0students to translate\u00a0their experiences in ways that develop their professional skills and identity.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Social Impact:<\/strong>\u00a0experiences that encourage\u00a0students to contribute to\u00a0their local and global communities, collaborating and contributing through service and impact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Within each development stream there are three tiers, determined by the level of student participation required:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tier 1:<\/strong> 20+ hours participation*<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tier 2:<\/strong> 35+ hours participation, self awareness plus 4 stream modules, reflection activity*<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tier 3:<\/strong> 70+ hours participation, program completion, reflection activity* [reserved for selected programs only]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>*Additional activities\/modules may apply depending on the program requirements.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There is no limit to the number of Curtin Extra approved programs a student can participate in while studying.<\/p>\n<p>There is a suite of skills development modules\u00a0available to you through Curtin Extra. These modules are designed to help your students develop a range of capabilities, contextualise their program experiences,\u00a0and understand\u00a0how to communicate their achievements to others.<\/p>\n<p>Students can complete the required modules at any time through <a href=\"https:\/\/challenge.curtin.edu.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Curtin Challenge<\/a>. How does this link to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/staffportal.curtin.edu.au\/learning-and-teaching\/designing-curriculum\/developing\/graduate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Curtin Graduate Capabilities<\/a>?<\/li>\n<li>Select an appropriate tier level and development stream that your program focuses on<\/li>\n<li>Clearly break down and describe the practical activities that students will have the opportunity to engage in<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once submitted, the Curtin Extra Coordinator will work with you to present the nomination to the Curtin Extra Committee. The Committee meets each semester to review new program nominations.
