Tutoring can help increase your understanding of concepts, build your study skills and boost your confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The one-on-one setting also lets you focus on overcoming any problems areas you might have, paving the way for you to succeed at university.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Eligibility\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Eligibility\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Eligibility\">Eligibility<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Eligibility\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>The following criteria must be met to be eligible for ITAS tuition:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The student must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent<\/li>\n<li>Be enrolled in either a Curtin Enabling course or an Undergraduate award level course (e.g. Bachelor, Associate or Honours) offered at Curtin University<\/li>\n<li>Masters or PhD students are not eligible for ITAS unless they have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/students\/personal-support\/disability\/cap\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Curtin Access Plan<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Types-of-tuition\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Types-of-tuition\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Types-of-tuition\">Types of tuition<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Types-of-tuition\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Both Group and Individual tuition are available for students at no cost.<\/p>\n<p>Tuition is only available during the semester, Block teaching and OUA study periods. Tuition is not available during semester and\/or study period breaks.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Hours-of-tuition\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Hours-of-tuition\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Hours-of-tuition\">Hours of tuition<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Hours-of-tuition\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>The ITAS Officer will determine your eligible tuition hour&#8217;s based on your ITAS application.<\/p>\n<p>Students can be eligible for 2 hours per unit per week (maximum full-time load of 4 units), not exceeding a total of 8 hours per week.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n        \n<\/mimas-block>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to apply<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Download and complete the application form to apply for ITAS. Your nominated tutor must apply to be a tutor under the ITAS program by completing a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2021\/11\/Prospective-Tutor-application-form-.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2021\/11\/Prospective-Tutor-application-form-.pdf\">Prospective Tutor Pack [.pdf 1008kb]<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a process involved with lodging the tutor application and it will take approximately three weeks to get new tutors on the system, therefore it is vital that applicants lodge their expression of interest as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Criteria-for-tutors\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Criteria-for-tutors\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Criteria-for-tutors\">Criteria for tutors<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Criteria-for-tutors\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Prospective ITAS tutors must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be qualified through formal education or relevant experience<\/li>\n<li>Not be a close relative of the student. The term &#8216;family&#8217; can be identified as follows:\n<ul>\n<li>A relative by blood or marriage or;<\/li>\n<li>Has strong affinity with the individual and family;<\/li>\n<li>Stands in a bona fide domestic or household relationship with the individual;<\/li>\n<li>Is a child or adopted child of the individual;<\/li>\n<li>Is a child or adopted child of the person standing in a bona fide domestic or household relationship with the individual.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Not be directly involved in the assessment of the course in which the student is enrolled.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tertiary students as tutors must:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be at least two academic years ahead of the student (i.e. second year students can only be approved as ITAS tutors for enabling students, third year students can only be approved as ITAS tutors for first year students). First year students are not eligible to be ITAS tutors);<\/li>\n<li>Be able to show evidence of sound academic progress;<\/li>\n<li>Not themselves be receiving ITAS tuition or have received ITAS tuition in the subject area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Prior to any tutoring, a tutor must have a Sessional Contract and a current Student\/Tutor Agreement with Curtin and the Centre for Aboriginal Studies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n        \n<\/mimas-block>\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"cards\"\n        data-segment=\"dom\">\n\n    \n\n        <div class=\"card-grid\"\n         data-card-size=\"standard\"         data-card-count=\"2\"\n         data-card-background=\"gray\">\n                    <div  id=\"about-itas\" class=\"card\" data-type=\"\" aria-label=\"about-itas\"><div class=\"inner\"><div class=\"card__title\"><h3>About ITAS<\/h3><\/div><div class=\"card__content\"><p>Established in 2017, ISSP-ITAS is the &#8216;Indigenous Student Success Programme &#8211; Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme&#8217; as the way in which the Australian Government funds and delivers a range of programs targeting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
