Curtin&nbsp;Emergency Student Loan&nbsp;provides&nbsp;a small, interest free loan&nbsp;for students who have experienced sudden and unforeseen circumstances that temporarily infringe on their capability to continue their studies at Curtin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An&nbsp;Emergency Student Loan is not available to assist with expenses associated with studying, such as tuition fees and incidental charges,&nbsp;supplement income,&nbsp;repay existing commercial debt (e.g. a bank loan or credit card debt) or for recreational expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To apply you need to satisfy the eligibility and assessment criteria for each type of loan.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n for an Emergency Student Loan you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>be enrolled in an Curtin award course within Australia<\/li>\n<li>have no outstanding debt to Curtin, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2021\/12\/Incidentalfees2019-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fines, charges, tuition fees [.pdf 411kB]<\/a> and payment plans<\/li>\n<li>have a satisfactory academic record<\/li>\n<li>be able to demonstrate temporary, unexpected financial need and provide documentation to support your claim<\/li>\n<li>provide documented evidence to demonstrate capability to repay the loan<\/li>\n<li>demonstrate that the circumstances that have led to the need for a loan was unavoidable and not due to-\u00a0 your inappropriate behaviour<\/li>\n<li>have not been found guilty of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/students\/essentials\/rights\/\" rel=\"noopener\">student misconduct<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you have a history of late payment of fees and charges, this may be taken into consideration when assessing your application.<\/p>\n<p>Some examples of sudden and unforeseen circumstances may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unexpected expenses arising from illness or death of a family member<\/li>\n<li>Urgent accommodation and living expenses resulting from an unexpected change in normal circumstances<\/li>\n<li>Urgent and unexpected medical expenses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Successful recipients may\u00a0borrow up to $2000.<\/p>\n<p>The amount will be provided via electronic bank transfer.<\/p>\n\n        \n Loan:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarships.curtin.edu.au\/contact\/\">Scholarships Office<\/a> with an explanation as to why you require the loan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To be considered for a loan you may be requested to provide:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Details of personal income, expenditure and assets<\/li>\n<li>Identification to prove age of dependants<\/li>\n<li>Written statement explaining the reasons for the loan request<\/li>\n<li>Copy of invoice or quote that needs to be paid.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        \n                            \n for\u00a0Emergency Student Loan repayments are included in the formal loan agreement that must be signed by the applicant.<\/p>\n<p>The terms and conditions contained in the\u00a0Emergency Student Loan agreement are legally enforceable and legal channels of recourse are available to both parties.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n
