You will be using a number of integrated educational software delivery services, including Canvas.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Hardware requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An up-to-date <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-au\/windows\/?r=1\"><strong>Windows PC<\/strong><\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-au\/102662\"><strong>Macintosh<\/strong><\/a> running an operating system capable of running the latest version of a supported browser (keep your OS updated with the latest security updates)<\/li>\n<li>A computer with at least <strong>1GB RAM<\/strong> is recommended<\/li>\n<li>A stable internet connection \u2014 Canvas is designed to work in low-bandwidth environments, with a recommended minimum speed of <strong>512kbps<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Webcam, microphone and speakers if your unit uses video conferencing or media recording tools within Canvas (a <em>wearable headset is highly recommended<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Browser compatibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is very important that you use a <a href=\"https:\/\/community.instructure.com\/en\/kb\/articles\/662718-what-are-the-browser-and-computer-requirements-for-instructure-products\">supported browser<\/a> when using Canvas, so that all unit content and the unit tools display properly.<\/li>\n<li>We recommend installing multiple browsers for use with Curtin technologies. The latest editions of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-GB\/firefox\/new\/?redirect_source=firefox-com\">Mozilla FireFox<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apple.com\/au\/safari\/privacy\/?cid=wwa-au-kwgo-safari-Safari_Brand_Core-brand_exact-safari_hero_061026-Safari_Brand_Exact-SafariExact-&amp;aosid=p240&amp;ken_pid=go~cmp-23898898503~adg-196029906886~ad-812209423626_kwd-351469094~dev-c~ext-~prd-~mca-~nt-search&amp;token=f8ed3188-10e0-4de1-9527-7c1db3c81d53\">Apple Safari<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/chrome\/\">Google Chrome<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/explore.microsoft.com\/en-us\/edge\/download?form=MA13FJ\">Microsoft Edge<\/a>\u00a0 are fully supported.<\/li>\n<li>Should you experience an error message, please try using a different browser to see if you experience the same results.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Browser plug-ins<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>At times you may be required to view and listen to instructional content within your course which will require additional software to be installed. For example, your instructor may upload an audio file for you to listen to or post a video clip for you to watch.<\/p>\n<p>The browser you currently use to access Canvas may not always have the required software (plug-in) installed to properly view or play such files. To run a quick browser test, <a href=\"https:\/\/community.instructure.com\/en\/check-browser\">use Canvas\u2019s Browser Checker<\/a> to ensure that your browser has the most commonly used plug-ins already installed.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Additional browser configuration considerations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.enable-javascript.com\/\">JavaScript<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whatarecookies.com\/enable.asp\">cookies<\/a> must be enabled.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Working-with-Canvas-tools\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Working-with-Canvas-tools\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Working-with-Canvas-tools\">Working with Canvas tools<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Working-with-Canvas-tools\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <h3><strong>Email<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You can easily <a href=\"https:\/\/community.instructure.com\/en\/kb\/articles\/663922-video-how-do-i-use-the-inbox-as-a-student\">send emails<\/a> to your lecturer, tutor or other students in your class.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Notifications<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Stay on track with what\u2019s happening in your unit by checking and managing your <a href=\"https:\/\/community.instructure.com\/en\/kb\/articles\/662894-how-do-i-manage-my-canvas-notification-settings?utm_source=community-search&amp;utm_medium=organic-search&amp;utm_term=notifdications\"><strong>Notifications<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Journals\/Blogs<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Canvas does not have direct equivalents for Blogs and Journals. If you have any units\u00a0that begin in 2026 and finish in 2027, you will be contacted and receive early access to Canvas to complete these units.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Go to the Home page\/tab and on the <strong>My Units<\/strong> module, hover then click the gear icon in the top right corner.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Group by Term<\/strong> check box allows you to group your units by each semester\/term. The units will be categorized by their respective semesters\/terms.<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Edit Course List<\/strong> you can manually set which units will be displayed, what information will be displayed for each unit, and what order the units are in.<\/li>\n<li>Once you have finished, click <strong>Submit<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Another reason for your unit not showing may be because it has not been made available by the Unit Coordinator, yet. <\/strong>Units are usually made available in Canvas seven (7) days prior to the first day of the study period, however, your Lecturer may choose a different start date. If you have concerns that you are unable to see your Unit, please <a href=\"https:\/\/community.instructure.com\/en\/kb\/articles\/663922-video-how-do-i-use-the-inbox-as-a-student\">contact your lecturer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why can\u2019t I see content\/assignments within my unit?<\/strong><br \/>\nYour unit coordinator is your best contact for when you are unable to view content\/assignments within your unit \u2013 as they know the unit best! If you have concerns that you are unable to see content, please <a href=\"https:\/\/community.instructure.com\/en\/kb\/articles\/663922-video-how-do-i-use-the-inbox-as-a-student\">contact your lecturer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The unit does not have an online component<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Not all units have an online component. Check your Unit Outline to confirm whether your unit should appear in Canvas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Your enrolment details are incorrect<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are incorrectly enrolled in a unit, you will not see the unit in Canvas. To check your current enrolment:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Open eStudent (click on the \u201ceStudent\u201d button on the \u201cMy Studies\u201d tab in OASIS).<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cEnrolment &amp; Study Plans\u201d in the left-hand menu. A sub menu will open.<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cCurrent Enrolment Details\u201d in the sub menu.<\/li>\n<li>The units you are enrolled in will now be displayed.
