Peer Academic Mentors, or \u2018PAMs\u2019, are current, high-achieving Curtin students who have a keen interest in supporting the academic skills development of their peers.<\/p>\n\n\n<mimas-block \n        block-name=\"accordion\"\n        role=\"complementary\"\n        aria-label=\"Accordion content\"\n        data-segment=\"all\">\n\n                \n\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-What-do-we-look-for-in-a-Peer-Academic-Mentor?\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"What-do-we-look-for-in-a-Peer-Academic-Mentor?\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-What-do-we-look-for-in-a-Peer-Academic-Mentor?\">What do we look for in a Peer Academic Mentor?<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"What-do-we-look-for-in-a-Peer-Academic-Mentor?\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>We recruit Mentors from all faculties at Curtin who have completed at least one semester and have at least one year of study remaining. We also require the following criteria be met:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Course-weighted average (CWA) of 70 or higher<\/li>\n<li>A supportive, enthusiastic nature<\/li>\n<li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to build the academic skills and capabilities of others by supporting their learning and directing them to appropriate resources<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to challenge yourself, be self-reflective and give and receive constructive criticism<\/li>\n<li>Willingness to continue learning and expanding your skills to better support your peers and the team<\/li>\n<li>Able to commit to 2-4 hours of shifts per week at Curtin Perth campus, with potential of after-hours work<\/li>\n<li>Available to attend face-to-face training the week prior to Orientation week.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-Why-should-you-apply?\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"Why-should-you-apply?\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-Why-should-you-apply?\">Why should you apply?<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"Why-should-you-apply?\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>Becoming a Peer Academic Mentor (PAM) is a rewarding experience. In this role you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop your communication, administration, leadership and teamwork skills.<\/li>\n<li>Get to know more about Curtin systems and services<\/li>\n<li>Network with Curtin staff<\/li>\n<li>Develop self-reflective skills that will help you professionally, personally and academically.<\/li>\n<li>Share your enthusiasm for learning<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to a committed, supportive and proudly diverse team.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our Peer Academic Mentors undergo training prior to commencing the role, and are provided with various opportunities throughout their employment to develop their personal and professional skills. The process is managed by Curtin Careers\u2019 Earn While You Learn program.<\/p>\n<p>Our recruitment process involves a written application, with shortlisted applicants undertaking a group interview. As per any Curtin staff position, an identity check and police clearance are required at the applicant\u2019s own cost.<\/p>\n<p>Our Peer Academic Mentors are required to be current students, and as such we usually have yearly staff turnover (due to graduation). Position availability is dependent on which faculty roles are vacant, and what funding is available.<\/p>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n        \n<\/mimas-block>\n\n\n<p>To express your interest for this year&#8217;s round of applications, complete and submit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fusiontestcampaign-recruitcurtin.pushapply.com\/login\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Earn While You Learn Talent Pool application form<\/a>.
