It can assist with tasks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>answer questions, create first drafts, have human-like conversations, summarise concepts,<\/li>\n<li>generate examples (essays, poems, scripts, reflections, slides, outlines, images)<\/li>\n<li>fix grammatical errors, paraphrase content, transcribe conversations<\/li>\n<li>translate text between languages<\/li>\n<li>and is always available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n        \n                            \n                    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n                    <div class=\"accordion\" aria-labelledby=\"accordion-title-What-do-I-need-to-know-about-Gen-AI-tools?\">\n            <button type=\"button\" class=\"accordion__heading\" aria-controls=\"What-do-I-need-to-know-about-Gen-AI-tools?\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            <div class=\"title\" id=\"accordion-title-What-do-I-need-to-know-about-Gen-AI-tools?\">What do I need to know about Gen-AI tools?<\/div>\n            <div class=\"icon\"><\/div>\n        <\/button>\n        <div class=\"accordion__content\" id=\"What-do-I-need-to-know-about-Gen-AI-tools?\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n                    <p>GenAI should be used with caution and only with permission for assessment tasks.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If used inappropriately, these tools may prevent student learning and critical thinking<\/li>\n<li>GenAI systems contain bias\n<ul>\n<li>Lack of diversity in training data \u2013 output replicates those biases<\/li>\n<li>Lack of transparency\/accountability for output \u2013 no way to know how decisions were made<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Accuracy of output must be verified \u2013 e.g. it fabricates references and other information<\/li>\n<li>Acknowledgement and attribution rules apply\n<ul>\n<li>Unapproved, inappropriate, or undisclosed use may be dishonest or unfair behaviour, and therefore considered misconduct.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Students are not permitted to upload work to GenAI tools that does not belong to them. This usually will require you to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Document its use<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Screenshot\/save all work such as prompts used, answers produced, how you edited the output, purpose of using it, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Verify the accuracy of all output you use<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Some GenAI software makes up information. If you submit that false output as part of your assessment task, it may be considered falsification or fabrication, which is considered misconduct.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Apply appropriate acknowledgement and attribution rules.<\/strong> This means:\n<ul>\n<li>Use in-text citations\n<ul>\n<li>Where you have quoted or paraphrased GenAI text, you must include an in-text reference acknowledging the tool you have used.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Include a declaration of use\n<ul>\n<li>A declaration must be included in your assignment after your reference list. It should detail which tools you have used to generate content in the process of completing your assignment and how they have been employed. Instructions on how you can access Curtin Grammarly is provided on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/library\/study\/studiosity-grammarly\/\">library website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Avoid using <em>Grammarly Free<\/em>, <em>Premium<\/em>, or <em>Business<\/em> versions. These versions all use GenAI prompting technology.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is Grammarly Authorship and can I use it with the Curtin version of Grammarly?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Grammarly Authorship allows students to document their writing process while working in Google Docs or Microsoft Word. By enabling Grammarly Authorship, you can generate a report that tracks your writing activity, which can be shared with your instructor if there are any questions about your writing process. This is GenAI software and students need to be cautious about using it.
