Microcredential FAQs

Microcredentials are short courses or masterclasses that aim to give learners dynamic, compelling learning experiences shorter than traditional postgraduate learning. With courses offered in online, face-to-face, or blended formats, Microcredentials allow learners to select courses that fit flexibly into various lifestyles.

Our credentials are designed to deliver shorter-form assessed learning as an alternative to, in addition to, or as a stepping-stone to formal postgraduate study.

Leave them as standalone certifications or stack them - it's completely up to the learner.

With Curtin Credentials a learner can upskill, cross-skill, and reskill in small, bite-sized chunks by selecting courses in topics and learning modes that suit their lifestyle. Whether they want to learn new skills, complement existing ones, or discover something completely new - it's up to them. Plus, Microcredentials are certified, transferrable, and stackable, meaning they can be left as standalone achievements, or grouped towards a graduate certificate.

Microcredentials:

  • give formal recognition for learning
  • offer compelling, dynamic, contemporary learning experiences, influenced by market desirability and driven by industry demand
  • provide evidence to employers that the learner is skilled in areas they may not have a full degree in
  • show that learning is taken seriously and the learner is dedicated to furthering their professional development

Curtin Credentials have been created to offer dynamic, engaging, and flexible learning experiences to today's professionals. We have designed a range of Microcredentials to deepen and broaden relevant experience and further develop skills. The nature of work is constantly changing, and we're here to empower learners in achieving their goals, no matter what life stage they are in.

We deliver our Microcredentials in a series of one day and five day learning experiences which carry credit. One day of learning is equal to five credit points, and five days of learning is equal to 25 credit points. For further information on specific course credits, explore our course catalogue.

Credentials can be left as standalone certifications or stacked into a Graduate Certificate of Professional Practice. Whichever pathway is chosen, it gives instant recognised credit for the skills developed in the course.

On completion of the course and the pass/fail assessment, the learner receives a digital microcredential. This can be shared as a digital badge on social media platforms such as LinkedIn.

Digital badges are a visual representation of a completed microcredential and a way to showcase the acquired skills online. They can be shared via social media platforms, including LinkedIn, and allow prospective employers to check capabilities against their skill and knowledge needs. They also show a commitment to continued learning and professional development.
