Successful candidates will work with Dr Andrew Lacey on the above Early Career Industry Fellowship project, in collaboration with Professors Wensu Chen and Hong Hao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Increasing exposure to natural hazards demands resilient, rapid construction solutions. This project addresses this need through lightweight, cost-effective modular panels manufactured from advanced construction material. The outcomes will include experimentally validated design methods and sustainable construction solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-intro-font-size\">Ideal Candidate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8cf370e7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p class=\"has-df-font-size\">Minimum requirement: Bachelor\u2019s degree (first-class honours or upper second-class honours) in Civil and Structural Engineering or related discipline. Substantial relevant industry experience is preferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-df-font-size\">Applicants with Master\u2019s degrees with technical publications and research experience in structural engineering, structural analysis, mechanics, structural dynamics, structural protection and materials science are preferred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-df-font-size\">Applicants must meet Curtin University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/applying\/english-language-requirements\/accepted-english-qualifications\/#tests\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/applying\/english-language-requirements\/accepted-english-qualifications\/#tests\">English language proficiency requirements<\/a> for HDR admission. This normally requires: IELTS (Academic): Overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0; or TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 79, with minimum scores of Reading 13, Listening 13, Speaking 18, and Writing 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-df-font-size\">As the project involves industry collaboration, applicants should be able to communicate effectively in interdisciplinary environments and be willing to work closely with industry partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-df-font-size\">The successful applicant must be eligible to enrol full-time in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/applying\/research\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/study\/applying\/research\/\">Doctor of Philosophy \u2013 Civil Engineering<\/a> research degree at Curtin University\u2019s Bentley campus through the School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project is open to domestic and international applicants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-intro-font-size\">Scholarship<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These PhD scholarships are funded by the Australian Research Council via Early Career Industry Fellowship and Curtin University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two Scholarships are available to support successful candidates with a living stipend, up to the value of $38440 per annum, based on full-time enrolment, for a maximum period of 3 years with possible six month extension.
