{"id":7544,"date":"2019-05-28T01:26:50","date_gmt":"2019-05-27T17:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/apply-now-for-a-funded-study-tour-to-japan\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T13:09:24","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T05:09:24","slug":"apply-now-for-a-funded-study-tour-to-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/apply-now-for-a-funded-study-tour-to-japan\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply now for a funded study tour to Japan!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Mitsui Educational Foundation is inviting Curtin students to apply for the 2019 study tour taking place from 19 November to 10 December 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The tour has a combination of cultural and academic experiences including a number of industry visits to a variety of companies and locations in Japan, with the aim of strengthening ties and friendships.<\/p>\n<p>The itinerary includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Places of historical significance such as Kyoto, Nara and Hiroshima;<\/li>\n<li>Visits to various Japanese companies and factories;<\/li>\n<li>Home stay with a Japanese family;<\/li>\n<li>Weekend with Japanese university students who will commence employment with Mitsui next year;<\/li>\n<li>Attending a lecture at Keio University with their Japanese students;<\/li>\n<li>Meeting with the Australian Ambassador to Japan;<\/li>\n<li>Experience of the nature in Japan such as Hakone and Miyajima Island;<\/li>\n<li>Experience of the Japanese tradition such as hot spring and tea ceremony; and<\/li>\n<li>Various tourist destinations in Tokyo including temples, shrines and museums.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There is one place available for a Curtin student and the successful applicant will join students from seven other universities across Australia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is eligible to apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be an Australian citizen<\/li>\n<li>Currently enrolled as a full-time student at Curtin University<\/li>\n<li>Undergraduate student in your 2nd, 3rd or 4th year<\/li>\n<li>Have a Course Weighted Average above 60%<\/li>\n<li>From any course of study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants must clearly demonstrate a keen interest in learning broadly about Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese language skills\/study of Japan are not required to be eligible for selection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the cost?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All airfares, transport, meals and accommodation will be covered by the Mitsui Educational Foundation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Will this study tour credit towards my degree?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a not-for-credit study tour, so it cannot be credited towards your degree. You do not need to have an elective unit on your study plan to participate in the program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do I apply?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>To apply, complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/curtin.au1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_07fFMkEKTqVuUUR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online application form<\/a> before midnight Wednesday 29 May 2019.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Short listed applicants will be selected and notified on Friday 31 May.
