The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has issued an <a href=\"https:\/\/news.curtin.edu.au\/stories\/scam-alert-telephone-scam-targeting-chinese-students-australia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">advisory<\/a>\u00a0and the Australian media has published an article on a separate telephone scam <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/finance\/chinese-scammers-bag-10-million-from-sydney-residents\/news-story\/52d0a12838932e5a63c0ff21ca8d6711\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Support for students<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you receive an unsolicited phone call in Mandarin, hang up the phone immediately and contact <a href=\"http:\/\/campaign.curtin.edu.au\/curtin-connect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Curtin Connect<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guild.curtin.edu.au\/studentassist\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Guild Student Assist<\/a> for support.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tips for students<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Don\u2019t answer phone calls from unknown and private caller IDs. If it\u2019s important, the caller will leave a message and you can return it later.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t provide or disclose any personal information to unsolicited calls, even if they appear to come from a Government organisation.<\/li>\n<li>Take note of any details (websites and numbers) that has been provided and double check this to make sure it&#8217;s credible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you are concerned that your identity has been compromised, contact the national identity and cyber support service (IDCARE) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.idcare.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Scammers continue to target Chinese students in Australia.
