The intensive workshop included presentations from professionals in the field of design and exclusive one-on-one mentoring.

To win the chance to attend the workshop, the entrants were asked to make a 60-second video about an issue they were passionate about.

Curtin design and art students and alumni submitted their videos and secured almost half of the available 30 places.

“This is the second year running that our students have bested the eastern states institutions in the creative talent competition,” said Associate Professor Steve Mickler, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Humanities.

“The students will obtain credit in two different units for the video presentation, then the work and outcomes from the workshop will be displayed on the global D&AD website. Well done all!”

Nils Leonard, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of Grey London, a leading creative agency in the UK, hosted the workshop.

“We need to encourage a culture of creativity and D&AD is a fantastic platform for broadcasting this message. Young creatives are the future of this industry and helping to nurture them is essential,” said Mr Leonard.

The winning Curtin students were Roishin Byrne, Kate Davies, Joseph Dennis, Giuliana Drudi, Steph Gotch-Martin, Hayden Griffiths, Sam Hall and Charissa Martin, while the winning alumni were Alice Cogin, Maya Halilovic, Kat Neves, Skipper Van Peer and Marina Vailieva.

By showing creativity, passion and a real-world sensibility, we are excited to see the entrants demonstrate that they are leading game-changers in the field of design.

Learn about courses offered through Curtin’s School of Design and Art.

Watch the eight winning Curtin student submissions below:

Roishin Byrne – issue: rising sea levels.

Kate Davies – issue: depression.

Joseph Dennis – issue: music piracy.

[vimeo width=”560″
