{"id":5339,"date":"2015-08-11T05:00:25","date_gmt":"2015-08-10T21:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/generous-donation-benefits-petroleum-engineering-students\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T13:07:20","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T05:07:20","slug":"generous-donation-benefits-petroleum-engineering-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/generous-donation-benefits-petroleum-engineering-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Generous donation benefits petroleum engineering students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Petroleum engineering students at Curtin University will have access to a global software application thanks to a multi-million dollar donation from Petroleum Experts Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>The Integrated Production Modelling (IPM) suite, worth more than $2.3 million, includes the petroleum production modelling and field management tools PROSPER, GAP, PVTP, MBAL, REVEAL and RESOLVE.<\/p>\n<p>Run together, the tools allow engineers to design complete field models of reservoir tanks, wells and surface gathering systems.<\/p>\n<p>The IPM suite is used by the majority of oil and gas exploration and production companies and will help students to develop vital, industry-standard software operation skills.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Professor Mofazzal Hossain from Curtin\u2019s Department of Petroleum Engineering says the software will serve as an efficient tool for teaching and research in areas associated with petroleum reservoir and production engineering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program will provide students with the opportunity to experience industry-practiced production modelling software,\u201d says Associate Professor Hossain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe software has the potential to advance students\u2019 understanding of design, analysis and optimisation of petroleum production systems \u2013 specifically in the Petroleum Production Technology unit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Petroleum engineering students will be able to take advantage of the software from August 2015.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/logo_petex.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-31315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/logo_petex.gif\" alt=\"logo-petroleum-experts\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New software donated to Curtin will give petroleum engineering students the chance to create industry-standard field models.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4275,"featured_media":5340,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_oasis_is_in_workflow":0,"_oasis_original":0,"_oasis_task_priority":"","_relevanssi_hide_post":"","_relevanssi_hide_content":"","_relevanssi_pin_for_all":"","_relevanssi_pin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_unpin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_include_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_exclude_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_no_append":"","_relevanssi_related_not_related":"","_relevanssi_related_posts":"","_relevanssi_noindex_reason":"","wds_primary_category":0,"wds_primary_research-areas":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"research-areas":[],"class_list":["post-5339","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-campus-and-global-community"],"acf":{"post_options":{"":null,"additional_content":{"title":"About Petroleum Experts","content":"<p>Petroleum Experts is an engineering company that develops sets of petroleum engineering software tools.
