Curtin\u2019s ongoing commitment to teaching and research at its Kalgoorlie campus has been demonstrated with the addition of a new rock and soils laboratory.<\/p>\n
Located on the ground floor of the chemistry building, the rocks and soils lab was completely refurbished over a period of five months, with an investment of just over half a million dollars. The laboratory, under the guidance of Professor Roger Thompson, is an essential component for students studying rock and soil testing and has been in use since April.<\/p>\n
The labs will provide exposure to rock testing systems such as digital point load testing and uniaxial testing, and soil testing systems like soil particle size distribution, giving students hands-on experience with industry relevant equipment, which will ultimately make them more desirable to employers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
