{"id":4782,"date":"2011-08-15T07:14:54","date_gmt":"2011-08-14T23:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/one-minute-message-packs-a-punch\/"},"modified":"2025-02-17T15:53:22","modified_gmt":"2025-02-17T07:53:22","slug":"one-minute-message-packs-a-punch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/one-minute-message-packs-a-punch\/","title":{"rendered":"One-minute message packs a punch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two Curtin advertising students have won a national prize for their one-minute video that warns inventors to protect their intellectual property.<\/p>\n<p>Caitlyn Selkirk and Tom Bradbeer recently won <em>The Hard Sell <\/em>competition run by IP Australia after devising and filming an <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/IPAustralia?blend=9#p\/c\/CC9EA48067DC535E\/0\/zqqeHVYb8gw\">experiment to see if random passers by would steal somebody&#8217;s million dollar idea<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>IP Australia stipulated the videos were to be just 60 seconds in length. \u00a0In their allotted minute, the third-year students managed to catch several idea thieves in the act, deal them a deflating blow, and deliver a warning to unwitting rip-off victims.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The hard thing was bringing the video down to a minute, that and the Sunday morning we spent brainstorming the idea,&#8221; Ms Selkirk told <em>Curtin News<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>She and Mr Bradbeer &#8211; both advertising majors in the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/humanities.curtin.edu.au\/schools\/DA\/\">School of Design and Art<\/a><\/strong> &#8211;
