{"id":4743,"date":"2011-03-04T07:22:31","date_gmt":"2011-03-03T23:22:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/o-day-2011-biggest-and-best-yet\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T13:06:40","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T05:06:40","slug":"o-day-2011-biggest-and-best-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/o-day-2011-biggest-and-best-yet\/","title":{"rendered":"O-Day 2011 &#8211; biggest and best yet!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>O-Day 2011 was the biggest and best yet, with thousands of people turning up to Curtin&#8217;s Bentley campus to get their first look at the University, score free stuff, or just enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the event.<\/p>\n<p>O-Day is the Student Guild\u2019s premiere event during Orientation Week, showcasing all that the Guild, and University as a whole, has to offer to students.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin Guild Activities Vice President Sarah Connor called the day an unparalleled success, with a great turnout and more stalls, clubs, and outside vendors on offer than ever before.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;And the after-party at the Tav was awesome,&#8217; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We had Tim and Jean playing, everyone was dancing. There was just a great atmosphere all day.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>First year nursing student Regina said she&#8217;d recommend new students come to O-Day to familiarise themselves with the campus and settle any nerves they may have.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It made the whole coming-to-uni-thing a lot less intimidating,&#8217; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Plus it&#8217;s good to check out the place before classes start and work out where everything is.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Penny, a first year Mass Communications student, said she wasn&#8217;t aware of the multitude of on-campus activities on offer for university students.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There&#8217;s so much to do, so many clubs and stuff that I didn&#8217;t know about,&#8217; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I joined a few. It was lot of fun, and we got a lot of free stuff.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s good they made it a fun day, so you can find out a heap of info but not be bored. Yeah, it makes me feel like I made the right decision to come here, definitely.
