Western Australian health professionals and students will benefit from a new state-of-the-art wound clinical education centre planned for Curtin University\u2019s Bentley campus.<\/p>\n

Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon announced $380,000 in funding for the joint project, to be led by Silver Chain Nursing Association<\/a> in conjunction with Curtin\u2019s Health Sciences<\/a> and WoundsWest<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new centre will provide undergraduate and postgraduate students from Perth and remote WA with hands-on training in wound management procedures. It will also provide vocational training for aged care staff, general practitioners, registered nurses and indigenous health workers.<\/p>\n

Professor Phillip Della, Head of Curtin’s School of Nursing and Midwifery<\/a>, said the centre will offer cutting edge technology to students.<\/p>\n

‘The dedicated centre will contain a wound simulation ward, which will include the latest diagnostic and treatment technology and custom made real-life acute and chronic latex wounds and simulation models.<\/p>\n

\u2018It will house a computer resource laboratory, which will facilitate student access to WoundsWest’s interactive online Education Program and other online programs developed at Curtin.’<\/p>\n
