{"id":31386,"date":"2026-06-16T14:18:13","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T06:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/?p=31386"},"modified":"2026-06-16T14:28:34","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T06:28:34","slug":"date-set-for-inaugural-goldfields-winter-seminar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/date-set-for-inaugural-goldfields-winter-seminar\/","title":{"rendered":"Date Set for Inaugural Goldfields Winter Seminar"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) will host its inaugural Goldfields Winter Seminar on Tuesday 28 July 2026, bringing together leaders from health, education, community services and regional development to explore the future of the region&#8217;s workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seminar, titled <strong>Strengthening the Rural Health and Social Care Workforce: Sustainability through Place-Based Education and Community Connection<\/strong>, will focus on the role of education pathways, partnerships and community connection in supporting a sustainable regional workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seminar will feature keynote presentations from Professor Jenny May AM, National Rural Health Commissioner, who provides independent advice to government on rural health workforce and access issues across Australia, and Professor Deb Jones, Director of the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health and Rural Clinical School, whose service is one of Australia&#8217;s longest-established University Departments of Rural Health and brings extensive experience in rural workforce development, place-based education and regional partnerships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, they will share national and regional perspectives and insights into place-based education, rural workforce development and the partnerships that help regional communities build and sustain a skilled local workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A panel discussion featuring a diverse range of local voices will follow, offering on-the-ground perspectives and practical ideas to strengthen the sustainability of the rural health workforce in the Goldfields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees are warmly invited to a networking sundowner post event, an opportunity to connect, reflect and continue the conversation over drinks and nibbles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Goldfields Winter Seminar forms part of the GUDRH&#8217;s commitment to supporting rural workforce development through education, collaboration and community engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Registration is free.
