{"id":31138,"date":"2026-05-08T13:04:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T05:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/?p=31138"},"modified":"2026-05-08T13:04:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T05:04:10","slug":"future-clinicians-learn-to-work-as-one-in-simulation-pilot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/future-clinicians-learn-to-work-as-one-in-simulation-pilot\/","title":{"rendered":"Future clinicians\u00a0learn to\u00a0work as one in Simulation Pilot"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) recently hosted a three-day\u00a0Simulation\u00a0event designed to give students\u00a0additional\u00a0real-world experience during their clinical placement in the Goldfields.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Held&nbsp;at&nbsp;Curtin&nbsp;Kalgoorlie\u2019s Rural Health&nbsp;Campus, the event&nbsp;began&nbsp;with a two-day National Health Education and Training in Simulation (NHETS) workshop, drawing participation from staff across WACHS and both the&nbsp;Curtin&nbsp;Kalgoorlie and Bentley campuses.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the third day,&nbsp;participants&nbsp;moved into the&nbsp;Rural Health&nbsp;Campus\u2019 purpose-built Simulation Room for a full interprofessional simulation,&nbsp;involving&nbsp;14 faculty members, 2 WACHS staff and 26 students from Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, and Social Work.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students&nbsp;participated&nbsp;in interprofessional teams,&nbsp;learning&nbsp;to work alongside one another,&nbsp;drawing on existing experience and shared resources, just as they would on the job.&nbsp;Throughout the day they worked through 7 scenarios spanning 4 hospital emergency department settings and 3 outpatient situations.
