This 6-week program could help"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reading time: 2 minutes<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You know exactly what you want to say in your head\u2026 then someone asks you to speak in front of the class and suddenly the words disappear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether it\u2019s answering a question in a tutorial, presenting a group assignment, introducing yourself at a networking event or sitting across from someone in a job interview, speaking confidently can take some getting used to, especially when English isn\u2019t your first language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.studyperth.com.au\/student-support\/student-engagement\/find-your-voice-public-speaking-program\/\">StudyPerth\u2019s Find Your Voice Public Speaking Program<\/a><\/strong> is a six-week program specifically designed for international students in Western Australia who want to feel more confident communicating in study, work and everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You don\u2019t need to already be a confident speaker<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The program is designed with English-as-a-second-language speakers in mind, so you won\u2019t be expected to walk in and immediately deliver a speech in front of a room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead, you\u2019ll start with low-pressure, small-group practice and gradually build your skills each week, working towards delivering a final speech to the group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Across the six weeks, you\u2019ll work on:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>building confidence and managing nerves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>using your voice, body language and speech structure effectively<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>drafting and structuring speeches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>thinking on your feet<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>giving and receiving feedback<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>connecting with an audience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You\u2019ll also receive workshop materials, written feedback and a certificate of completion if you meet the attendance requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Basically, it\u2019s practice for situations you\u2019ll actually face. Think group assignments, presentations, job interviews, networking, speaking up in class and eventually the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s also a chance to meet other international students who may be working through the exact same nerves, while building a network outside your usual classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">When is it?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next program runs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fridays, 5.30pm\u20137.30pm<\/strong><br><strong>16 October\u201320 November 2026<\/strong><br><strong>StudyPerth Student Hub, 555 Wellington Street, Perth<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are six two-hour sessions in total.
