You&#8217;ll be matched with students from a similar study area and provide guidance, encouragement and practical advice during their first few weeks at Curtin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>first five weeks of semester<\/strong> are the most important, giving you the opportunity to help your mentees navigate university life, discover support services, make connections and settle into their studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why become a mentor?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop leadership, communication and mentoring skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gain experience that looks great on your resume and LinkedIn profile<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expand your network and connect with students from across Curtin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Boost your confidence and make a positive impact on the Curtin community<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Help new students feel like they belong from day one<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What&#8217;s involved?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a mentor, you&#8217;ll:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect regularly with your mentees throughout their first five weeks at Curtin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend mentor training and program briefings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Share helpful advice, resources and support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in New to Curtin activities and events where possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a friendly, approachable point of contact for new students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p apply?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can apply if you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be a currently enrolled student who has completed at least one semester (100 credits) in the area you wish to mentor for.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have a proactive and positive attitude with a commitment to lifelong learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be a good communicator and able to relate to new students.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be confident, willing and able to assist others without compromising your own academic studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be reliable, trustworthy and able to maintain
