{"id":32243,"date":"2026-09-14T10:18:24","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T02:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/?post_type=oasis-news&#038;p=32243"},"modified":"2026-09-14T10:18:29","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T02:18:29","slug":"lockdown-browser-goes-live-in-canvas-from-16-september","status":"publish","type":"oasis-news","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/oasis-news\/lockdown-browser-goes-live-in-canvas-from-16-september\/","title":{"rendered":"LockDown browser goes live in Canvas from 16 September"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Reading time: 1 minute<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curtin&#8217;s current learning management system (LMS), Blackboard, will be replaced by Canvas and rolled out to all students across all Australian and global campuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In preparation for the transition to Canvas, <strong>Respondus LockDown Browser<\/strong> will now include a Canvas option from <strong>Wednesday 16 September.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;ve taken an online exam in Blackboard before, the experience will feel familiar. Respondus works much the same way in Canvas, with a small change that makes getting into your test even simpler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What&#8217;s changing?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because Respondus is now connected to both Blackboard and Canvas, you&#8217;ll notice something new when LockDown Browser launches: a drop-down menu asking which learning system you&#8217;re using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make sure to select the right one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Blackboard: for your Blackboard units<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Canvas: for your Canvas units<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Picking the correct option ensures your test loads properly and your progress is tracked in the right place, so it&#8217;s a quick step worth double-checking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does LockDown Browser workflow differ between the two systems?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Blackboard<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open LockDown Browser first<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then head to Blackboard and launch your test<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Canvas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Simply open your test directly in Canvas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LockDown Browser will launch automatically.
