Expect a vibrant atmosphere with a live DJ, special guests, and plenty of colour throughout the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About Wear It Purple Day<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wear It Purple Day is an annual awareness day that celebrates and supports LGBTQIA+ young people. It encourages schools, universities, workplaces, and communities to wear purple as a visible sign of inclusion, respect, and allyship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The day was established in 2010 by two Australian students after they were inspired to take action against the bullying and discrimination experienced by LGBTQIA+ young people. Since then, it has grown into a nationwide event across Australia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udcc5 Friday, 28 August 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udd50 1:00 pm \u2013 3:00 pm <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\ud83d\udccd UWA Campus<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The goals of Wear It Purple Day include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promoting safe, supportive, and inclusive environments for LGBTQIA+ young people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raising awareness of the challenges LGBTQIA+ youth can face, including bullying, discrimination, and social isolation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encouraging people to become active allies and celebrate diversity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Purple was chosen because it has long been associated with diversity, pride, and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Represent Curtin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curtin is looking for a team of 8\u201320 students to compete against the other Western Series universities in a cross-country style challenge.
