In an era where sustainability and innovation stand as driving forces of change, the Faculty of Business and Law held their Learning and Teaching Showcase on 9 August to celebrate their commitment to inspiring change-makers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Held in TL Robertson Library’s new event venue, The Lantern<\/a>, the Showcase brought together a diverse audience of over 120 staff, students, industry professionals and alumni in an immersive, collaborative experience. Students had the unique opportunity to meet and network with FBL\u2019s dedicated Learning and Teaching sustainability champions, industry partners, and fellow students who are already making waves in sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Sustainable Collective at Curtin (SCC)<\/a>‘s Vice President,\u00a0Krishna Karthikeyan delivered a student address at the start of the event:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a world where just last week we had the hottest day recorded globally, this room is filled with people who have hope, and who have access to the academic and extra-curricular resources we need to take whatever steps we can in our capacity to mitigate climate change.<\/h4>\n

The event showcased a range of exciting initiatives and upcoming programs, including the new Sustainable Business Innovation Unit<\/strong>. Launching in Trimester 3, this unit invites students to explore the fusion of sustainability and innovation in the world of business, bridging the gap between profit and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also featured were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students Doing Good (SDG) Challenge:<\/strong> Empowering students to become catalysts for positive impact, this challenge invites students to address the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals through creative and impactful solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability Study Tours<\/a>:<\/strong> Encouraging students to embark on eye-opening journeys that extend beyond borders, exposing them to sustainable practices across the globe and fostering a global perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carbon Literacy Training:<\/strong> To acquire the knowledge to reduce one’s carbon footprint and become a Certified Carbon Literate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability Collective at Curtin<\/a>:<\/strong> Which serves as a hub for like-minded students to collaborate on lasting sustainability solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability in industry:<\/strong> Learning from industry leaders who are integrating sustainability into their business models, students gain insights into how the business world can contribute to a more sustainable tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planet Positive<\/a>:<\/strong> Offering a glimpse into a planet-positive future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Engagement Posters:<\/strong> Showcasing the incredible projects and ideas of fellow students, inspiring others to make a difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sustainability is a concept which expands across all industries. I felt privileged to share my experience working towards sustainability with\u00a0UNITE 2030\u00a0at this showcase last week. Together we need to continuously work towards a more sustainable future in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.<\/h4>\n

Week-long sustainability display in building 407<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the foyer outside the FBL Student Engagement Office in B407 Level 2 was activated with a colourful and engaging display of sustainability student initiatives for the duration of the week.
