#1 John Curtin Weekend 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n John Curtin Weekend (JCW) is held throughout September and October each year and with over 150 of our Curtin Volunteers travelling to 15+ regional towns to get involved in various community initiatives and projects. If you are wanting to explore regional WA, meet new people and have a lot of fun, a JCW Trip is the opportunity for you! This year, we will be travelling to locations such as Busselton, Cuballing, Mandurah and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #2: Crochet Blankets for Wheelchairs for Kids<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Do you love getting creative?Have you always wanted to learn how to crochet? Well, this micro volunteering activity is for you!Our volunteers will be making crochet “granny squares”, which will be joined together to make a blanket to donate to Wheelchairs for Kids.\u00a0Get involved and help make a blanket that could go anywhere in the world with a custom-made wheelchair and bring some colour and warmth to a child in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n #3: Support-a-reader Program \u2013 Belmont Primary School<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The \u2018Support-a-Reader\u2019 program at Belmont Primary School is a reading program held once a week that seeks to enhance primary school student\u2019s joy of reading. This program seeks to encourage children to read widely and to improve their literacy outcomes. If you love reading or are passionate about education, you may like to explore one of school based literacy and numeracy programs!<\/p>\n\n\n\n #4 Waroona STEMathon 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Waroona STEMathon event celebrates National Science Week and promises to inspire and engage over 1100 children throughout Waroona an the peel region. If you\u2019re passionate about Science, Technology and inspiring the next generation, this one-night regional opportunity could be for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n #5 Conversational Help and Support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The CHAtS program assists Curtin students to develop their conversational English skills by engaging them in fun conversation-based activities. This peer-led program is a great way to share your skills, learn about different cultures and make new friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
