However, their continuing use is encouraged as part of good personal hygiene practices throughout COVID and the flu season, especially when physical distancing isn’t possible.

All students must stay at home if they are feeling unwell and get tested if they have any COVID-19 symptoms.

Although the government is removing the requirement to show proof of vaccination to enter venues and businesses, mandatory workplace vaccination requirements will remain in place. Curtin’s vaccination mandate remains. COVID Marshals will continue to randomly check the vaccination status of people on campus, especially at events like the University’s Undergraduate Expo this Sunday (1 May).

Close contacts of a positive case are no longer required to isolate for seven days, but must follow the steps outlined on the State Government’s webpage which includes undertaking a daily Rapid Antigen Test and advising the University of their status. Close contacts who experience symptoms must isolate until their symptoms have resolved and they are tested. If a close contact tests positive, they must isolate for a further seven days. Please continue to advise of any positive cases within the Curtin community by using the webform.

We also remind all members of the Curtin community that flu vaccinations are now available at the Curtin Health Service and at local GPs and pharmacies. Health authorities are warning that this year’s flu virus may be more prevalent than usual, so it is wise to be protected.

Whilst most people will welcome the relaxation of the restrictions, there may be a spike in cases without these precautions in place. We remind all students to have their COVID boosters when eligible and, in the interests of caring for our Curtin community, to continue to be vigilant with hand washing, sanitising and to take precautions such as mask wearing, especially when physical distancing is not possible. High-touch frequency cleaning will remain in place.

Further information on the changes announced by the Government can be found online.

COVID booster documentation

Thank you if you have already uploaded your booster vaccination document. Please remember to provide evidence of your booster (or an exemption) within four months of receiving your second vaccine dose.

You will receive reminders in OASIS based on the vaccination data you have previously uploaded.

Proof of vaccination can be uploaded via the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Collection webform.

As recently announced, public health measures in WA were further relaxed from 12.01am Friday 29 April.
