Curtin FM\u2019s loyal listeners have helped take the station\u2019s 50th<\/sup> anniversary celebrations to new heights, by raising a record $176,000 during its annual Radiothon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The week-long fundraiser saw strong support from listeners across Australia and overseas, with more than 3000 donations ranging from $5 to $2000, including from donors in the United States and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All funds raised go directly towards supporting Western Australia\u2019s longest-running community radio station\u2019s operations and programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Station Manager Quinn Glasson said the record total was a testament to the station\u2019s deep connection with its audience forged over half a century, plus the dedication of its tireless volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis year\u2019s Radiothon feels especially meaningful as we celebrate 50 years of Curtin FM and we are grateful for the overwhelming support we receive from the community,\u201d Mr Glasson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur listeners have been with us every step of the way and their continued support – despite many facing cost-of-living pressures – is truly humbling and ensures we can keep doing what we love: playing great music and staying connected to our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe simply couldn\u2019t do this without our volunteers, who give their time both on-air and behind the scenes – their passion and commitment are what keeps the station running.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curtin Corporate Communications Director Vanessa Beasley said the record-breaking result highlighted the enduring role Curtin FM plays in the University and wider community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFor 50 years, Curtin FM has been part of the daily lives of Western Australians, bringing people together through music, storytelling and shared experiences,\u201d Ms Beasley said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe success of this year\u2019s Radiothon shows just how strong that connection remains, even as the media landscape continues to evolve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the station\u2019s 50th anniversary celebrations, Curtin\u2019s TL Robertson Library will hold a special exhibition open to the public showcasing Curtin FM\u2019s history, personalities and impact from July until the end of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Glasson said the exhibition would be an opportunity for listeners and the wider community to reflect on the station\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re incredibly proud of our history and the role we\u2019ve played in the community over the past five decades,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
