The Australian Centre for Student Equity and Success (ACSES) is pleased to welcome social mobility expert John Craven as the newest member of its Advisory Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Craven has dedicated his career to improving life outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds through education, employment, and evidence-based policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of System 2, an Australian applied research charity dedicated to helping young people from underserved communities reach their potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With a track record of leading system-wide reform and delivering measurable impact, Mr Craven brings a global perspective on student equity and success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is also an Honorary Fellow in Educational Equity at the University of Birmingham, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and has previously served as UK Social Mobility Commission Director and Chief Executive of award-winning UK social mobility charity, upReach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Curtin University Vice-Chancellor and ACSES Advisory Board Chair Professor Harlene Hayne said Mr Craven\u2019s appointment reflects the Centre\u2019s commitment to world leading practices and evidence-informed innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJohn has an impressive background in building and leading organisations that improve life chances for young people,\u201d Professor Hayne said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHis deep expertise in social mobility and behavioural insights will be a major asset to ACSES as we support the transformation of Australia\u2019s higher education landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Craven said he was honoured to join ACSES during a time of national reform in higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am passionate about ensuring that every student, regardless of background, has the opportunity to thrive in higher education and beyond,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cACSES plays a critical role in turning robust research into practical change for universities and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
