Curtin FM\u2019s loyal listeners have once again dug deep to support Western Australia\u2019s most popular community radio station, raising an impressive $129,000 during its annual Radiothon fundraiser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The week-long event, held from 16 to 22 June, received 2,090 individual donations from supporters across Australia and overseas. Every dollar raised will go directly towards supporting Curtin FM\u2019s operations and programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Station Manager Quinn Glasson said he was overwhelmed by the generosity of listeners and the unwavering commitment of Curtin FM\u2019s volunteers, who were instrumental in making this year\u2019s Radiothon a success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe simply couldn\u2019t do this without our volunteers who are the heart and soul of the station. Our volunteers answer phones, help behind the scenes and on-air \u2013 and they do it all with a smile,\u201d Mr Glasson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re also incredibly thankful to our listeners. Their support means a great deal, especially at a time when so many people are doing it tough financially. Every single donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among those lending a hand was 90-year-old Judith Keen, the station\u2019s eldest volunteer and one of its longest-serving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJudith is an absolute treasure. She\u2019s been with us for more than 20 years and is a shining example of the spirit that keeps the station going. She\u2019s just one of almost 100 amazing volunteers who are part of the Curtin FM family, giving their time and energy to keep the community connected,\u201d Mr Glasson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Curtin Corporate Communications Director Vanessa Beasley said this year\u2019s Radiothon holds special significance as the station prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026, marking half a century of serving the community through music, conversation and connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor nearly 50 years, Curtin FM has played an important role in the lives of Western Australians \u2013 not just through on-air programs, but also through beloved local events like the Curtin FM 100.1 Car Show,\u201d Ms Beasley said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
