{"id":26946,"date":"2024-12-12T10:13:10","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T02:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/?post_type=media-release&#038;p=26946"},"modified":"2024-12-12T10:13:14","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T02:13:14","slug":"curtin-signs-strategic-partnership-with-singapores-oceanus-media-global","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-signs-strategic-partnership-with-singapores-oceanus-media-global\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin signs strategic partnership with Singapore\u2019s Oceanus Media Global"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Exploring the future of human story telling through digital media is at the heart of a new partnership between Curtin University and Southeast Asia-based creative media technology company, Oceanus Media Global (OMG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curtin Pro Vice-Chancellor, Humanities, <a href=\"https:\/\/staffportal.curtin.edu.au\/staff\/profile\/view\/richard-blythe-c795fd14\/\">Professor Richard Blythe<\/a> said signing a Memorandum of Understanding with OMG is a transformative moment for creative media technology education and an excellent example of partnering with industry to create meaningful outcomes for students and the creative sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to collaborate with Oceanus Media Global to provide our students with firsthand exposure to the latest advancements in virtual production, VFX and immersive media,\u201d Professor Blythe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis partnership will enable us to deliver a dynamic, industry-responsive curriculum that equips our graduates with the practical skills necessary to thrive in the digital economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;By combining OMG&#8217;s industry expertise with our educational excellence, we&#8217;re creating unprecedented opportunities for our students and the broader creative sector.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OMG CEO Nick GC Tan said his organisation was excited to share their expertise and create pathways for emerging talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;With the expanding creative industry in Western Australia, this collaboration positions both organisations at the forefront of digital innovation and content creation,\u201d Mr Tan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTogether with Curtin, we aim to equip students and industry professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly changing creative media and technology landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The partnership encompasses several key initiatives:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Development of new industry-aligned curriculum and modules and workforce development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhanced Virtual Production (VP) and VFX course content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work experience opportunities and industry placements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Virtual production consultancy services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborative industry projects between Singapore and Perth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaboration globally via Curtin\u2019s global campuses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Senior Lecturer and Major Coordinator for Animation and Game Design Jonathan Pillai said the collaboration would introduce co-designed modules, enhanced virtual production training and industry-aligned curriculum developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our partnership with OMG will help to bridge the gap between academia and industry requirements, ensuring our graduates are equipped with cutting-edge skills to meet real-world demands,&#8221;
