Curtin University\u2019s Professor David Gibson has been reappointed by UNESCO as Chair on Data Science in Higher Education Learning and Teaching for another four-year term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Professor Gibson, who has held the prestigious role since 2016, will continue to lead international collaborations using data science to improve learning and teaching outcomes across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Former Deputy Chair, Professor Dirk Ifenthaler<\/a> from Curtin\u2019s School of Education, will also take on an expanded leadership role as Co-Chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Professor Gibson said he was honoured to be reappointed and looked forward to the opportunities ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI am thrilled to continue leading this important work applying data science to reshape higher education, empower students and improve teaching practices on a global scale,\u201d Professor Gibson said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWith Professor Ifenthaler stepping into the role of Co-Chair, we are positioned to further amplify our impact and explore new, innovative approaches to address educational challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Curtin University\u2019s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Paul Brunton, congratulated Professors Gibson and Ifenthaler on their appointments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe renewal of Professor Gibson\u2019s Chair and Professor Ifenthaler\u2019s new leadership role as Co-Chair reflects Curtin\u2019s ongoing commitment to advancing research and innovation in education,\u201d Professor Brunton said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTheir combined expertise is pivotal in advancing data-driven approaches to the way we teach and learn, both in Australia and internationally, as we strive for more inclusive, equitable and quality education for all.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The UNESCO Chair in Data Science in Higher Education Learning and Teaching at Curtin University is part of a network of 1000 UNESCO Chairs worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The program brings together universities and research institutions to collaborate on education, science, culture and communication projects aimed at developing innovative solutions to pressing challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For more information on United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) visit\u00a0here<\/a>.
