Langlois, has been appointed Curtin University\u2019s inaugural Stan Perron Dean of Applied Ethics in the Faculty of Business and Law, to guide and shape the next generation of responsible leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Langlois brings more than 25 years of experience as an educator and authoritative voice on ethical issues to the position, which has been created in partnership with the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curtin\u2019s Faculty of Business and Law Pro Vice-Chancellor Vanessa Chang congratulated Professor Langlois on his appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to welcome Anthony as the first Stan Perron Dean of Applied Ethics \u2013 an integral role which will not only help equip our students with critical thinking and ethical decision-making skills, but also play a vital part in in the establishment of the Curtin Centre for Applied Ethics,\u201d Professor Chang said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnthony is a trusted thought leader who brings a wealth of experience with a commitment to excellence and teaching from a distinguished two-decade long career at Flinders University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur partnership with the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation is a pivotal milestone in Curtin\u2019s commitment to ethical thinking and preparing our graduates to understand not just what they can do but what they should do when making business decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stan Perron Charitable Foundation Chair Elizabeth Perron congratulated Professor Langlois on his appointment and looked forward to seeing the impact of his work in years to come<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy father was renowned for his strong commitment to ethical business conduct and for him it was more than words, it was displayed every day of his working life,\u201d Ms Perron said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is arguably no better illustrated than in the trusting relationship he built with Toyota Motor Corporation where he held the rights to import the global giant\u2019s vehicles into Western Australia for decades on the basis of a hand-shake arrangement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis was a unique arrangement that was a reflection of the trusted relationship between Toyota\u2019s most senior executive and my Dad and their mutual respect for each other. It was just one example of many where Dad believed that by acting with integrity and honour, commercial success would follow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Langlois said he was looking forward to taking on the new position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am excited to be joining Curtin University and honoured to contribute to the legacy of Stan Perron, by building and enhancing Curtin\u2019s reputation for ethical vison and leadership and developing ethical graduates who can make a positive impact,\u201d Professor Langlois said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChallenging both students and colleagues to consider the ethical contours of their academic and professional activities has driven my work in research, education and leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dI am also excited to help shape the new Curtin Centre for Applied Ethics, paving the way for mainstreaming applied ethics in the Business School courses and other curricula across the University.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Langlois is the author of&nbsp;<em>The Politics of Justice and Human Rights: Southeast Asia and Universalist Theory<\/em>&nbsp;(Cambridge University Press, 2001) and&nbsp;<em>Sexuality and Gender Diversity Rights in Southeast Asia&nbsp;<\/em>(Cambridge University Press 2022).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He earned his PhD in Political Science and International Relations from the Australian National University and most recently was Director for a transnational Masters program in International Relations and International Business, a joint venture between Flinders University and China\u2019s Nankai University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will take up his new role in October.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Global Ethics and Human Rights Scholar, Anthony J.
