Listeners of community radio station, Curtin FM, have once again rallied together to raise more than $145,000 during the station\u2019s annual Radiothon.<\/p>\n
A total of 2,100 donations were received as part of Curtin FM\u2019s 46th<\/sup> fundraiser with all proceeds going towards the running of the station.<\/p>\n Curtin FM Station Manager Mr Quinn Glasson said he was grateful to the community for their generous support.<\/p>\n \u201cThe amount raised is a testament to the loyalty of our listeners and we are so thankful for their generosity, especially when we are all feeling the effects of a tough post-pandemic economy,\u201d Mr Glasson said.<\/p>\n \u201cCurtin FM wouldn\u2019t be the station it is without the support of our volunteers who offer their time to provide listeners with thoughtful content and entertainment each week.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201c70 volunteers lent a hand during our five-day Radiothon event by taking calls and collating pledges and I thank each and every one of them for their help.\u201d<\/p>\n Curtin University Vice-President of Corporate Relations, Ms Valerie Raubenheimer, said community donations would help the volunteer-driven radio station continue to flourish.<\/p>\n \u201cYear on year Radiothon delivers an outstanding result which highlights the incredible support Curtin FM has not only attracted, but also maintained, over the years,\u201d Ms Raubenheimer said.<\/p>\n \u201cRadiothon would not exist without its dedicated listeners and of course the volunteers who graciously give up their time to run the station.\u201d<\/p>\n Curtin FM is Western Australia\u2019s largest community radio station with 180,000 weekly listeners.<\/p>\n Based at Curtin University\u2019s Perth Campus, Curtin FM is a not-for-profit enterprise completely funded by community support and sponsorships.<\/p>\n
