{"id":19536,"date":"2020-06-10T01:47:45","date_gmt":"2020-06-09T17:47:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-jumps-13-places-in-the-latest-qs-world-university-rankings\/"},"modified":"2020-06-10T01:47:45","modified_gmt":"2020-06-09T17:47:45","slug":"curtin-jumps-13-places-in-the-latest-qs-world-university-rankings","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/curtin-jumps-13-places-in-the-latest-qs-world-university-rankings\/","title":{"rendered":"Curtin jumps 13 places in the latest QS World University Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Curtin University continues to climb in the QS World University Rankings (QSWUR), jumping 13 places from last year to now sit at 217<sup>th<\/sup> in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 edition of the QSWUR, which highlights the top 1000 universities in the world, showed Curtin\u2019s continued improvement in these prestigious global rankings, rising 67 places since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said the 2021 results reflected the University\u2019s world-class performance in research and education, and its dynamic international and industry engagement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a sector that is facing some of its biggest challenges, I am incredibly proud that Curtin\u2019s standing in the world continues to rise,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur 2021 scores in the research component are particularly strong, with the University climbing 74 places to rank 127<sup>th<\/sup> in the world for citations per faculty due to a 15% increase for that indicator. This result demonstrates the exceptional work of our talented staff in both leading breakthroughs and inspiring the next generation; as well as Curtin\u2019s commitment to world class research.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurtin is a truly global university with campuses in Western Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius, and I am especially pleased that the University has once again achieved the highest score possible (100) for the International component of the Rankings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur sustained focus on global impact, collaboration and a strong and expanding network of industry relationships has also assisted in our continued climb in these highly-competitive rankings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.topuniversities.com\/qs-world-university-rankings\">QS World University Rankings<\/a> are determined by several factors including academic reputation, research performance, internationalisation, graduate employability, and student to staff ratios.
