Some of India\u2019s brightest postgraduate students will be given the opportunity to study in Australia as part of a new collaborative doctoral degree program between Curtin University and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.<\/p>\n
The new agreement was signed by Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay Director Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri this month.<\/p>\n
It builds on Curtin\u2019s existing collaborative PhD agreements with the Indian Institutes of Technology in Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati, Kanpur, and Dhanbad (formerly known as the Indian School of Mines).<\/p>\n
Curtin University Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Excellence Professor Garry Allison\u00a0said he was delighted to be working with some of India\u2019s leading academic and technology institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese collaborative PhD agreements offer doctoral students the opportunity to study at both Curtin and the respective Indian institution during the course of their research,\u201d Professor Allison said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy working with India\u2019s elite Institutes of Technology, Curtin University is developing its international research collaborations and building our relationships with some of India\u2019s brightest postgraduate students.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese joint doctoral degree programs also strengthen Curtin\u2019s global footprint spanning the Indian Ocean rim with our campuses located in Western Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius.\u201d<\/p>\n
The collaborative programs are focused in the science and engineering fields of mathematics, biological sciences, mathematics, data and engineering, as well as business and management areas.<\/p>\n
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is recognised as a world leader in the field of engineering education and research.<\/p>\n
