interactive world map featured at Curtin\u2019s 2019 Open Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Visitors to Curtin\u2019s 2019 Open Day will be able to explore the University\u2019s global footprint via an interactive world map spanning six metres.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin\u2019s largest annual event, which attracts thousands of visitors to the University\u2019s main campus in Perth, Western Australia every year, will be held on Sunday, July 21, from 10am to 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>The interactive world map, measuring 6m by 2.4m, will be located inside the Global Marquee, which will include representatives from each of Curtin\u2019s campuses in Western Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai and Mauritius, as well as Curtin\u2019s international partner institutions and will showcase potential exchange opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Corporate Relations Vice-President Ms Valerie Raubenheimer said\u00a0Curtin\u2019s global footprint now included four international campuses, offering new opportunities for prospective students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA new and exciting feature of Curtin\u2019s 2019 Open Day is a giant world map that will enable prospective students to explore the University\u2019s international footprint with the touch of their hand using interactive technology,\u201d Ms Raubenheimer said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs well as offering a range of free activities that will keep the whole family entertained, our biggest annual event will also give students and parents an insight into the opportunities that studying at Curtin can present from a global point of view.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also delighted to welcome Curtin graduate and leading mental health expert, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.claireorange.com.au\/meet-claire\/\">Claire Orange<\/a>, to this year\u2019s Open Day to present an informative session for parents that will offer them tips to help support their children during their most challenging years at school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Visitors to Curtin\u2019s 2019 Open Day will also be able to explore how Curtin researchers are investigating meteorites, DNA evidence, 3D-printed building blocks, virtual reality, back pain and robots, as well as much more.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin Business School\u2019s new high-tech simulated boardroom called <a href=\"https:\/\/news.curtin.edu.au\/media-releases\/new-high-tech-boardroom-prepares-tomorrows-business-graduates\/\">Management HQ<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/businesslaw.curtin.edu.au\/law\/tax-clinic\/\">Curtin Tax Clinic<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/businesslaw.curtin.edu.au\/curtin-business-school\/economics-and-finance\/trading-room\/\">Trading Room<\/a>, and Curtin\u2019s social media centre, <a href=\"https:\/\/businesslaw.curtin.edu.au\/curtin-business-school\/marketing\/agency\/\">The Agency<\/a>, will also be open.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/karda.curtin.edu.au\/\">Centre for Aboriginal Studies<\/a> will give visitors the opportunity to try their hand at the ancient art of rock painting, learn about Indigenous culture and enjoy a kangaroo and emu sausage barbecue.<\/p>\n<p>Tours will be available through the <a href=\"https:\/\/curtinfm.com.au\/music-of-the-decades\/\">Curtin FM<\/a> radio station and the <a href=\"https:\/\/jcg.curtin.edu.au\/\">John Curtin Gallery<\/a>, which will be showcasing Bidjara artist Christian Thompson\u2019s <em>Ritual Intimacy<\/em> exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/curtin.edu.au\/hive\">Curtin HIVE<\/a>\u00a0(Hub for Immersive Visualisation and eResearch) will be open to the public, offering a glimpse at a range of visualisation research projects including a virtual look at Mars that you would never be able to see in real life and a virtual reality recreation of the wreck of Australia\u2019s first submarine, HMAS <em>AE1<\/em>, which was lost at sea in 1914.<\/p>\n<p>At Curtin Connect, visitors can find out about the latest courses, study opportunities, scholarships, alternative pathways and mature-age entry opportunities for domestic and international students.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin\u2019s Open Day will be held at the University\u2019s main Perth campus, on the corner of Kent Street and Manning Road, Bentley, on Sunday, July 21 from 10am to
