{"id":19289,"date":"2019-06-28T00:29:32","date_gmt":"2019-06-27T16:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/new-global-ranking-results-place-24-curtin-subjects-in-australias-top-10\/"},"modified":"2019-06-28T00:29:32","modified_gmt":"2019-06-27T16:29:32","slug":"new-global-ranking-results-place-24-curtin-subjects-in-australias-top-10","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/new-global-ranking-results-place-24-curtin-subjects-in-australias-top-10\/","title":{"rendered":"New global ranking results place 24 Curtin subjects in Australia\u2019s top 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Curtin University has achieved rankings in 37 of the 54 subjects assessed in the 2019 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, including being named among the top 10 in Australia for 24 subjects.<\/p>\n<p>Released by the Academic Ranking of World Universities\u2019 publisher ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, the latest edition shows Curtin\u2019s continued improved performance, up from 33 subjects last year.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said Curtin was committed to producing research that makes a difference to our global community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurtin continued its strong performance with seven subjects ranked in the world\u2019s top 100 and 24 subjects ranked in Australia\u2019s top 10, including being second nationally for mathematics and equal-second for chemical engineering,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurtin has ranked 11<sup>th<\/sup> in the world and 5<sup>th<\/sup> in Australia for mining and mineral engineering in this edition, confirming the area\u2019s international standing and making it the University\u2019s highest global ranking subject.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The seven Curtin subjects listed in the world\u2019s top 100 include mining and mineral engineering, hospitality and tourism management, earth sciences, chemical engineering, nursing, remote sensing and education.<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 edition of the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects measured the performance of more than 4,000 universities across 54 subjects spanning five fields, including engineering;
