ranked among Australia\u2019s top eight universities in Nature Index"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Curtin University has been ranked the eighth university in Australia in the highly competitive 2019 Nature Index released today.<\/p>\n<p>The annual results showed Curtin achieved an international academic ranking of 321 among the world\u2019s top academic institutions, placing the University in Australia\u2019s top eight universities.<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 Nature Index measures the number of scientific papers published in 82 leading journals across the research areas of life science, physical sciences, earth and environmental sciences, and chemistry.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said the latest results were testament to Curtin\u2019s commitment to produce world-class research that is making a real difference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Nature Index examines the high-quality research output of universities across the world and I am absolutely thrilled that Curtin has achieved a national academic ranking among Australia\u2019s top eight universities,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe University has now achieved a global academic ranking of 321, positioning Curtin among the world\u2019s best research institutions and continuing our rapid rise in prestigious international rankings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curtin achieved a significant improvement in the volume of quality research being published in the earth and environmental sciences, recording a 30 per cent increase in published articles.<\/p>\n<p>The Nature Index 2019 Annual Tables highlight the institutions and countries that dominated research in the natural sciences in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In the National Taiwan University rankings, which were also released today, Curtin\u2019s global ranking improved to 277, up 19 places, with a national ranking of ninth in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Curtin ranked 230<sup>th<\/sup> in the world this week on the QS World
