Curtin University has jumped into the world\u2019s top 300 universities, according to the CWTS Leiden Ranking 2019 released overnight.<\/p>\n
Curtin has been ranked 284th<\/sup> in the world, an improvement of 35 places, in the latest ranking which measures university performance based on scientific impact and collaboration across almost 1000 major universities worldwide.<\/p>\n Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said she was delighted with the latest ranking result confirming the University\u2019s strong research performance.<\/p>\n \u201cThe latest CWTS Leiden Ranking places Curtin among the top 300 universities in the world and confirms the University\u2019s national ranking as ninth in Australia,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is an outstanding result and demonstrates the University\u2019s commitment to scientific collaboration and making an impact through scientific research that makes a real difference to people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n Professor Terry said Curtin recorded a 10 per cent increase in the number of research publications that demonstrated a strong scientific impact and a 13 per cent improvement in those highlighting scientific collaboration.<\/p>\n The CWTS Leiden Ranking 2019 ranks impact and collaboration according to the size of research publication output of all sciences for the period of 2014 to 2017.<\/p>\n The global ranking is based on data from Web of Science, compiled by Clarivate Analytics.<\/p>\n
