Six Curtin University researchers have been named in Clarivate Analytics\u2019 annual Highly Cited Researcher List, which identifies the world\u2019s most influential scientists and social scientists.<\/p>\n
The Curtin scientists named in the list includes John Curtin Distinguished Professor Victor Calo, John Curtin Distinguished Professor San Ping Jiang, John Curtin Distinguished Professor Zheng-Xiang Li, John Curtin Distinguished Professor Yong-Hong Wu, John Curtin Distinguished Professor Simon Wilde and John Curtin Distinguished Professor Zongping Shao, all from the Faculty of Science and Engineering.<\/p>\n
Now in its fifth year, the citation analysis identifies influential researchers as determined by their peers around the globe – those who have consistently won recognition in the form of high citation counts over a decade.<\/p>\n
This year, for the first time, a new cross-field category was introduced to identify researchers with substantial influence across several fields. Placement on the list has been recognised as a significant achievement, which includes Professor San Ping Jiang and Professor Yong-Hong Wu from Curtin University.<\/p>\n
Curtin University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Professor Chris Moran congratulated Curtin\u2019s six researchers on being named among the world\u2019s most-cited researchers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Web of Science<\/em> records academics around the world whose research has been ranked among the top one per cent most cited for their field and year,\u201d Professor Moran said.<\/p>\n \u201cHaving six Curtin researchers named among the world\u2019s most influential scientists is testament to the quality of research being carried out at the University and a significant achievement for all those recognised.\u201d<\/p>\n Annette Thomas, CEO of the Scientific and Academic Research group at Clarivate Analytics, congratulated the Curtin researchers on their inclusion in this year\u2019s list.<\/p>\n \u201cI congratulate the distinguished group of researchers at Curtin University. The advancement of scientific endeavour represents a critical activity for individual research institutions and entire nations,\u201d Ms Thomas said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Highly Cited Researchers 2018 list helps to identify the researchers who are having the greatest impact on the research community as measured by the rate at which their work is being cited by others and that contributes greatly to extending the frontier and gaining knowledge and innovations for society – contributions that make the world healthier, safer, richer, and more sustainable.\u201d<\/p>\n This year\u2019s list continues to recognise researchers whose citation records position them in the very highest strata of influence and impact as it includes 17 Nobel laureates.<\/p>\n
