Two leading Curtin researchers responsible for major advances in the resources and construction industries have been elected as Fellows of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.<\/p>\n

\"\"Curtin University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Professor Chris Moran and CEO of the Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBEnrc) Professor Keith Hampson were named among the new elections to the Academy today.<\/p>\n

Professor Moran is recognised as a global leader in sustainable water management in the resources industry and Professor Hampson is acknowledged around the world for translating research into practice for the construction industry.<\/p>\n

Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry congratulated Professor Moran and Professor Hampson on being named Academy Fellows.<\/p>\n

\u201cAcademy Fellows are awarded to the most influential names in technological sciences and engineering and I am delighted that Professor Moran and Professor Hampson have been recognised with this tremendous honour,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth Professor Moran and Professor Hampson have demonstrated exceptional leadership and a commitment to important research that is making a real difference in their respective fields. Their election as Academy Fellows is testament to this hard work and I congratulate them both for their significant contributions to research and advances in the resources and \"\"construction industries.\u201d<\/p>\n

Academy President Professor Hugh Bradlow welcomed their election, saying the new Fellows strengthened the Academy\u2019s aim of ensuring that Australia remains a world-leading technology economy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re motivated by what\u2019s best for our nation\u2019s future. And we do that by bringing together the brightest minds in technology, engineering and science to offer impartial, evidence-based, and practical advice,\u201d Professor Bradlow said.<\/p>\n

The Curtin recipients will be among 25 leading experts to be formally welcomed into the Academy at its annual meeting in Melbourne on November 23.<\/p>\n
