The Australian Ambassador to the ASEAN, Ms Jane Duke, has delivered the inaugural Association of Southeast Asian Nations Lecture to mark the 10th anniversary of Curtin Singapore.<\/p>\n
The title of Ambassador Duke\u2019s lecture, which was held in Singapore last night, was Association of Southeast Asian Nations Lecture: ASEAN in the Age of Disruption. <\/em><\/p>\n The lecture highlighted the importance of Australia\u2019s relations with ASEAN during a period in which the Indo-Pacific is facing significant change.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/em>The lecture was followed by a panel discussion between Ambassador Duke, Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry and Ambassador Ade Padmo Sarwono, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to ASEAN.<\/p>\n Professor Terry said she was delighted to mark the important milestone for Curtin Singapore with this significant lecture.<\/p>\n \u201cSince officially opening its doors a decade ago, Curtin Singapore has become a significant contributor to the Singapore region as well as an important global campus of Curtin University,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n \u201cCurtin Singapore was our second international campus when it opened in 2008 and continues to play a substantial role in our vision of being a recognised global leader in research, education and engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n Curtin Singapore Pro-Vice Chancellor and President Professor Linley Lord said Curtin Singapore had supported the growth of Curtin\u2019s international footprint.<\/p>\n \u201cCurtin Singapore has expanded from initially offering business courses to today providing students the opportunity to not only study business but also programs in health sciences with a key focus for nurses in Singapore, humanities through its Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication) program, a range of pathway and English language programs, as well as an increasing number of postgraduate courses,\u201d Professor Lord said.<\/p>\n \u201cCurtin Singapore has an emphasis on excellence in teaching and learning, growing industry links and highly employable graduates synonymous with the Curtin name.
