students awarded prestigious Global Voices scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two Curtin University students will join youth representatives from around Australia to address key global issues, after receiving exclusive scholarships from not-for-profit organisation Global Voices.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sean Curran, aged 22, who is studying International Relations, will represent Curtin at the 2018 OECD Forum in Paris, while Medical student, Ms Madeleine Fleming, aged 26, will attend the World Health Assembly (WHA) Forum in Geneva, Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Professor Jill Downie congratulated the recipients, adding the scholarships were a fantastic opportunity for Curtin students to gain real-life work experience on a global scale.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese scholarships create invaluable opportunities for students who are looking to become the next generation of leaders in their respective fields,\u201d Professor Downie said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSean and Madeleine will represent Curtin on the world stage and demonstrate their knowledge and expertise of critical world issues and showcase their strong leadership skills to key industry figures and experts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sean Curran thanked Curtin and Global Voices on receiving the prestigious scholarship, adding that it will assist in further progressing his studies in International Relations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a deep personal curiosity towards economics and the role it plays in society today and this opportunity will allow me to research, share and listen to the work being done at the international forum, while also growing personally and professionally,\u201d Mr Curran said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Madeleine Fleming said she was delighted to receive the scholarship and was looking forward to attending the World Health Assembly forum in Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have always been interested in the developing world and building a healthier future for everyone, and this scholarship will allow me to pursue my career goals and gain further knowledge about global health issues,\u201d Ms Fleming said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to participating in the forum, the selected delegates will also travel to Canberra for pre-departure meetings including private meetings with policy experts, economists, department secretaries, ministers and journalists.<\/p>\n<p>Global Voices is a not-for-profit organisation that is committed to nurturing the next generation of Australian leaders by providing practical experience in foreign policy and
