Curtin University has appointed Professor Linley Lord as its new Pro Vice-Chancellor of Curtin Singapore, commencing in April.<\/p>\n
The position plays a critical role in strengthening Curtin Singapore\u2019s relationships with industry and government and enhancing its reputation in teaching and research.<\/p>\n
Professor Lord has held a number of senior positions since commencing with Curtin in 2001 and is currently a member of the University Council and Council Executive, Chair of the Academic Board and a member of the University\u2019s Planning and Management Committee.<\/p>\n
Curtin Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry congratulated Professor Lord and said her extensive experience with the University will be of great value to Curtin Singapore.<\/p>\n
\u201cProfessor Lord\u2019s experience across university governance, teaching and research, combined with her leadership as a change-agent, positions her well for this key role,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n
Professor Lord said she was delighted about the appointment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m very much looking forward to leading this next stage in Curtin Singapore\u2019s development,\u201d Professor Lord said.<\/p>\n
Professor Lord is the Co-Lead of the Curtin Athena SWAN project (Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine) and was the inaugural Academic Director of the Curtin Leadership Centre.\u00a0 She is the Director of the Maureen Bickley Centre for Women in Leadership and was part of the AusAid Leadership for Development Program at Curtin, helping to build strong student cohorts across the Asia-Pacific.<\/p>\n
She takes over from Professor Rob Evans, who led the campus for the past five years.<\/p>\n
