{"id":18938,"date":"2018-03-01T02:31:07","date_gmt":"2018-02-28T18:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/leading-women-appointed-curtins-business-law-advisory-council\/"},"modified":"2018-03-01T02:31:07","modified_gmt":"2018-02-28T18:31:07","slug":"leading-women-appointed-curtins-business-law-advisory-council","status":"publish","type":"media-release","link":"https:\/\/www.curtin.edu.au\/news\/media-release\/leading-women-appointed-curtins-business-law-advisory-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Leading women appointed to Curtin\u2019s Business and Law Advisory Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Three prominent Western Australian industry and business leaders have joined Curtin University\u2019s Faculty of Business and Law Advisory Council, which works to ensure the University remains highly engaged with industry.<\/p>\n<p>Fortescue Metals Group Chief Executive Officer and Curtin alumna Elizabeth Gaines, Department of Training and Workforce Development Director-General Anne Driscoll and PwC Managing Partner Michelle Tremain have been appointed to the Faculty\u2019s Advisory Council.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Faculty of Business and Law Advisory Council Chair and RAC WA Chief Executive Officer Terry Agnew said he was delighted to announce the new appointments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am thrilled with the calibre of the three new members of the Faculty of Business and Law\u2019s Advisory Council,\u201d Mr Agnew said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecuring these three talented business and industry leaders will further strengthen the membership of the Advisory Council and the quality of expertise available to the Faculty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Agnew also thanked the three retiring members\u00a0\u2013 Steve Scudamore, Grahame Searle and Terry Bowen \u2013 for their significant contribution to the Advisory Council.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said Curtin was committed to strengthening its links with industry for the benefit of students, researchers and industry alike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough the Faculty of Business and Law\u2019s various advisory networks, we are very fortunate to be able to draw on a wealth of insight and expertise from more than 50 industry leaders to help shape our programs,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am delighted to welcome these three outstanding people to the Curtin Business and Law Advisory Council and look forward to their contribution to the education of tomorrow\u2019s business leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Faculty of Business and Law Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel de Bussy said he was looking forward to working with the three new appointees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmong many other positives, the diverse organisational backgrounds of the new members in government, resources, and professional services will greatly enrich the advice on which we are able to draw,\u201d Professor de Bussy said.<\/p>\n<p>The Faculty of Business and Law comprises of Curtin Business School and Curtin Law School.
