era for child health research with Curtin-Telethon Kids Institute partnership signed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Curtin University and Telethon Kids Institute will work together as part of a new agreement focused on enhancing children\u2019s health and medical research in Western Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The affiliation agreement, signed last night, sets out the framework for the establishment of a cooperative and collaborative relationship between WA\u2019s largest university and the State\u2019s only child health research institute.<\/p>\n<p>Curtin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Terry said she was delighted to announce the new agreement because it signalled a new era for children\u2019s health research in WA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement will promote collaborative efforts between Curtin University and Telethon Kids Institute with the aim of growing research and enhancing research training for the benefit of children, adolescents, families and the wider community,\u201d Professor Terry said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth organisations share common goals of high-quality research and training to deliver tangible health benefits and a commitment to advocate on behalf of research to society, so this agreement will only strengthen our resolve to make a real difference to people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Telethon Kids Institute Executive Director Professor Jonathan Carapetis said Telethon Kids was pleased to be collaborating with like-minded organisations such as Curtin University to maximise the impact for research which improves the health and wellbeing of kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur new affiliation with Curtin University will enhance health and medical research excellence in Western Australia and promote collaborative efforts between our two organisations to enable growth of research activities, research training and translation of research for the benefit of all families and children,\u201d Professor Carapetis said.<\/p>\n<p>Under the affiliation agreement, Telethon Kids Institute researchers will be eligible to hold Adjunct appointments at Curtin University and Curtin University researchers will also be eligible for honorary appointments at Telethon Kids Institute.<\/p>\n<p>The new agreement was signed by Professor Terry and Professor Carapetis at Curtin St George\u2019s Terrace on 23 January 2018.<\/p>\n<p><img
